WTF is that coming out of my exhaust?
So I started up my car this morning and it looks like there's oil coming out of my exhaust. It's just a few little drops, but it doesn't seem normal. Whats wrong with my car? Anyone know, and if so, what is it? Thanks.
does it have any sort of smell? If it's really cold in the morning then your just blasting out condensation that in the exhaust, it's nothing really to worry about unless it's like white smoke. Are you sure it's not just steam?
If it's black, it might just be soot mixed with water. That's normal.
Hold your hand back there, get it on your fingers. If it dries like water leaving black soot, that's OK. If it's oil you'll feel it's oily & it won't dry.

Really cold? His sig says Phoenix and it's summer. Really cold there this time of year is what, 99deg? If it's really black and thin, yeah it's just water in the exhaust mixing with carbon. Do you drive short distances, the buildup is more common with short drives. Should not feel oily, but more like water with a little grit, cause that's what it is.
