Default OT: My Old School Toyota Project.

Heres my 1982 Celica GT-S that i just bought...Its basically a daily driver but when cash comes, i wanna build it up as a clean cruiser. I bought the car from a friend and it came with some nice extras like an old FOHA front lip and wing, dealer option rear tailight trimpiece, ST/Tokico suspension, a newly rebuilt motor and tranny, old school recaro style headrests with mesh in the middle.....its not in the pics but i have a brand new never used ANSA rear muffler section for it..All it needs right now is a set of 16 inch SSR superfins and a hard slam to the floor.... I've always been into old school cars especially toyotas since i was 8 years old when my dad bought an AE86 brand new back in 85, but i've never had time or money to put into one up until now.

Very nice. A great looking base for a project. You dont see too much of those cars around here. The only one that I have ever seen before is in a field car destruction derby that me and about 12 neighbours had 2 years ago (I came in 3rd in my Subaru HB ). Think about putting a 350 in there, because they do make mount kits for it. Keep the appearance the same, maybe change the rims and make yourself an really sleek sleeper. it really does look dope. How much did you pay for it and how many miles?

thanks man......A chevy motor???yeah, that would be loads of fun but i wanna keep it all toyota...what i really want is a fully built crate 22R from LC engineering...The car has 300,300 miles on it...the motor runs really well and has low end grunt. I can get it to go sideways......how much i paid? i bought it from a friend for $600 USD...waht a good friend huh?

L.C. Engineering gets good props from me, I had their Stage 5 head, and it flowed really well. I would say save and invest money in parts than going with LC a majority of their parts can be found from other resources, as I already learned. The do build-up inhouse and porting, but most of their exclusive parts can be found thru, Summit, and Jegs and etc.....

Nice Celica, very clean, most of em I see are usually delapitated........and rust buckets......

yeah, LC's stuff is nice....I was toying with the idea of swapping a 7MGTE from a newer supra but it would take alot more work than i thought....So i figure that an LC crate motor will be fine...i dont really care about making it a completle street terror or anything, i just want it to sorta keep up...Yeah, most celicas like this a piles of ****, mine is pretty clean but its far from perfect. The body is rust free but the paint is chippin in small places and the left front fender has bondo in it The frame is straight though....in time, i want it repainted again in the same color or maybe pearl white..I'm not going to build it a drift car either....I just want to make it clean and look like the car it was back in the 80's..just dumped, shiny and rolling on some nice wheels. Here are two fine examples. one is a car from japan and one is the kaminari car.

I like the old school. Always liked to get a 93 or older nissan 240sx and throw a sr20det turbo and a SI3 conversion on it.

There used to be one of those at the street races back in the day, convertible, with an old Supra motor turbo'd, used to smoke people left and right, haha

Damn, the JDM Celica and the KAminari car are both dope as hell. That would be a helluva car to build. It sure would be different.

The only problem is, if it looked really good, it wouldn't be a very good beater--that thing would get stolen in a second.

Yup, toysport had a car just like that too...had a 7MGTE, almost the same color as mine, dumped on superfins...the 7M is a nice swap but requires cutting the firewall and moving it back a little.....---too much work!

Gamby, yes good point.......if i fix this one up too nice, i'll have to get a daily driver so that my other daily driver stays home.....LOL

i think 1993 S13's qualifies as an old school car.....think about it, the S13 body was out since 1989.....but yes, the EG wouldnt be really considered old school since the EG is a 90's design......
