K24 R/S and deck height...
I posted this in TECH a few days ago but some of you may know this better than I... I know now that the R/S for the K20 is 1.62 but what about the K24, do they share the same deck height (same block)... I have a feeling the the K24's added 15mm's of stroke would just kill that perfect R/S (atleast I want something around 1.6:1) but just from some simple calculations if they share the same block the K24 would be around 1.341:1... That doesn't seem possible... Anywho this is what I did (correct me if I'm wrong)...
KNOWN:
K20 = 86mm x 86mm
K24 = 99mm x 87mm
1.62 (K20 R/S) x 86mm (stroke) = 139.32mm (K20 rods) --> 139.32 + (86mm / 2) (half of the stroke, bringing you to the centerline of the crank) = 182.32mm (centerline of the crank to the center of the wristpin)
182.32mm - (99mm / 2) = 132.82mm (rods length on the K24)
132.82mm / 99mm (K24 stroke) = the nasty 1.341
The K24 has to have a taller deck right, I just want atleast 2400cc's of displacement while maintaining a resonable R/S... If anyone can help my retarded *** thanks in advance... Latez

K24 DECKHEIGHT IS 19.7MM TALLER
K24 ROD RATIO IS 1.54
OH YEAH.THE K24 STROKE IS 99MM, NOT 101MM.
ROD LENGTH IS 153MM.
DONT BOTHER TRYING TO STUFF THE K24 CRANK IN THE K20 BLOCK. IT WONT LIVE LONG.
I HAVE A K24 SHORTBLOCK,COMPLETE.2K MILES.PERFECT COND. 1600.00
I HAVE 5 K20 BLOCKS FOR SALE TOO. ONE HAS ZERO MILES.
K.BYE.

Can someone tell me how Top Fuel stroked their K20 R motor to 2.4 liters without using the K24 block? Custom rods and pistons, maybe?
If you don't believe me, their turbocharged DC5 R is in the Aug 2003 Superstreet.

I was looking closely at the pictures and it appears it may actually be a K20 block. I don't think engine longevity was necessarily a goal for Top Fuel's car. Because the K-series engines lean backwards, the taller block may have interfered with the turbo placement.
