HELP!!!!! trying to change exhaust manifold gasket. (h23)
4th gen h23 turbo. trying to figure out where the hell to start takin **** off to get the manifold off. i really have no idea, but heres my guess.
1. remove the turbo.
2. should be room then to remove the manifold?
3. do i have to put anything on the new gasket? like sealer? or just bolt it on?
4. what are the torque specs for putting it back together?
Any kind of help would be hugely appreciated

i'm not really sure about your first two questions, well actually the third one too.
on a N/A car you would just put the new gasket on the studs then reinstall manifold, but i'm not sure since your turbo.
but for the fourth question, heres a link to a 4th gen repair manual. the torque specs are listed under engine i believe

Just put the gasket on, bolt on manifold, torque bolts to to 26 lb-ft.
EDIT: (i don't know much about turbo, so i can't answer the first two, but there's some help)

wow, snapped a bolt, so i gave up abd took it to the shop. i broke the bolt in the exhaust housing of the turbo when putting it back on. i dont even know how it broke. o well. i had some of what i thought missing studs for the manifold. turns out it was warped and that snapped off the studs inside. they had to drill um out. ya big repair bill. guess ill have to put off rods for a while now....
this may be alil late, but 26lbs. is too much. hand tight 10-13lbs, i have broke some in the past and know this for a fact. especially on high mileage cars, 80,000+, the studs tend to get a lil weaker from heating and cooling down all the time.
