Swapping valve springs? True Tech Question...
Ok.. I've been reading this forum for awhile now...and I see that it's mostly B series tech stuff with the occaisional H question here and there... but I'm hoping someone might be able to help me...
I installed a reground Delta cam in my F22A1 awhile back and I now realize that I make power up to the fuel cut... So I want to install some stiffer valve springs so I can do it safely and reliably...
So I've been researching upgraded valvetrains... and I noticed looking thru the Ferrea part #'s that the B, H, & F series dual springs, retainers & locators all have the same part #...So that got me thinking that I might be able to use B/H series valve springs & retainers in my F series head... I didn't have the chance top call Ferrea today but I talked to a local CNC/Head porting shop and I was told that it is definietly possible...but measurements would have to be taken first to determine compatibility... The only thing is I can't pull the head and just take it down there...
So my question is... Has anyone ever switched DOHC VTEC springs to a SOHC? The guy I talked to said that he has had really good luck with ITR outer Springs & Portflow inners & retainers and that since I am not going to be revving past 7000-7500 this should be more than enough if the parts are compatible...So my rough plan would be to go that direction due to the cost effectiveness...
Does this sounds possible?
There's a real lack of information when it comes to F series engines... and whenever I float these questions I always get the old...swap an H answer... But I know many of you guys have a lot of valvetrain exp under your belts..
