Default autometer a/f gauge

I did a search and it resulted in a multitude of answers, in regards to the color of the o2 sensor wire from the ecu. My car is a 98 obdII equipped LS. I'm hearing solid white from gray connector from the ecu, green wire, black/orange.....etc....
I was wondering if any of you have the definitive answer before I start hacking away at my wires.
Also, what do you guys recommend for power source and ground. Thanks a bunch.

i recommend doing it on the o2 itself.. so you want be messing up your harness to your ECU...look inside your fuse box.. under the dash.. get a test light.. you will see empty box looking th ings that you can stick in there... you need a female connector.. 2 out of 3 is hot.. when ignition is on.. turn the car to acc.. and probe with a test light..

Don't even waste your money buying the gauge. It's just something to entertain your passengers with

Power source would be fuse under the dash for clock, radio, whatever. Anything that has constant power. Ground is whatever you want to ground it to.

On OBD1 cars, you splice the white wire off the 02 sensor. Im not exactly sure about your car, so maybe someone can chime in and help out with experience.

As for it being a light show, yes, thats all it is...its NOT A TUNING DEVICE. Its a safety measure to monitor your fuel supply. You blow a fuel hose while running the **** out of your car, and you wont know until its too late. A few seconds later, boom. With this, you can make sure your A/F is at safe levels at WOT...its only for safety.

i tihnk its very usefull...its a good thing to semi turn your car..some people go overboard with "wideband o2's" as if they were full race with bolt ons.. bah.. dont listen to some of these people.. its helpfull in my opinion.. N/a set up or turbo set up..atleast you kno where your car is running at...a good idea that is...

my friends air/fuel stopped working....
and about a week afterwords, 1 of his friends was messing around with his afc, and he was running so lean, without knowing it that he melted the CERAMIC on his spark plugs... among other things.

Even though all it is is a volt meter with LED's, the gauge is still worth it in my opinion.

look under the driverside dash.. you will see your fuse box..you will see a square empty spot.. thats where the red wire goes into.. you will need a female connector...

I just installed mine last week on my 95'. For me , it was the white wire with a thin red stripe.

Well, just installed my a/f meter. Yes it does jump around but like the instructions say....it's pretty accurate at 80% or more throttle. The install was as easy as it gets and I found the ecu o2 wire pretty easily. (Solid white for anyone needing to do this in the future). It's a light show but I think it's still a valuable item to have in your car. I agree that it's not something I would use for tuning but it's definitely a safety measure and you can do some slight tuning with it.
