Turn AC off when you turn your car off?
Some of my friends turn their AC off whenever they turn their car off. Is there any reason to do this? I have never done this, but wonder if I should start.
as far as i know there is no real benefit by doing this, maybe they just do it so if they don't need it when they get in the car the next time its already off or they forget that its on and try and race someone and wonder "what the hell is wrong with my car"
I think its like when some people with automatics put there car into neutral at stop lights, it doesn't really do anything.

I turn off the a/c and stereo when turning the car off. I was told as a kid that it would keep excessive load off the battery when you restart the car. Don't know if it even matters anymore but for me, its a habit now anyway

on older cars the ac and the battery were parasitic loads. meaning if they were left on, they still drew power off the battery... so, in the long run your battery would drain faster.
i turn it off when i turn the car off (ac) because it seem to not want to start very well when i leave it on. It almost seems as thought its harder for the motor to crank over when the ac clutch is engaged.
if you leave the AC on, when you try to start your car the Starter has to spin the engine and the COMPRESSOR, talk about extra load!!
is just better for the starter and also the car shoudl start a lil easy this way.
That's why people turn off the AC when they turned the car off.

the stereo won't affect crap. It's controlled by the accessory line, which goes dead when you crank. Only a TRUE ignition line stays 12v's while cranking

Are you sure about this? i been told of it, but i have never seen proof.
