Possible solution for the weak rear end.
just a thought. i know anything is possible with enough money, but do you guys think it would be reasonable to swap the rear diff and axles on an s with one from a rx7 or supra? what all would be involved to get this to work? would you have to rework the whole rear suspension?

The CV joints are also a weak link. Remember though...the only time you have to really worry about this is when you boost the engine output by a sizeable amount (i.e. supercharger or turbo) and you add a grabbier clutch. There may be the exception, but from what I've seen this is the general rule. As far as it using a miata differential...I've never heard of that...is that true? Comptech makes a cryogenically treated unit

I don't think it's either one. I believe it's a unit built by Honda (or one of it's suppliers) and not a copy of the rx7 or miata. Too many rumors get started about this car to really tell what's what.

well, I'll try to do a search on that post in s2ki, but from what I last recall, the guy said he had a miata diff and s2k diff side by side...they were the same, if not similar. The LSD unit in the assembly is made by torsen, one could also speculate the rest is also made by that company. However, it's most likely that mazda and honda source their units from the same manufactuer and unlikely that honda or mazda make the units themselves. Comptech only sells the bearing caps, not the diff and cryo treating is best applied to steel alloys, not aluminum as half the diff case is steel other half is alum.
if you want your diff/rear end assembly to hold up, don't dump the clutch, do burn outs, or shift that the numb nuts in fast and furious.

its made by torsen. its the same unit used on the rx7 though, but its not made by mazda..mmmmkay?
