... no!... the mpp2 is opened and closed electronically by a switch that can be mounted to the dash or console... the one from jcwhitney (here) is not electronically controlled...

check the ecutout thread in forced induction, the guy said these arent that good quality and will break. better would be to get the qtec, since they are the original inventors.

... i want to see/hear more details... like what failed, what went wrong, how long he had it, how often did he use it... anyways, for almost 1/2 the price of the qtec and a warranty... its a deal you just cant beat, IMHO...
... as for me i like this :

The warranty period is 1 year on the motor and gearbox, and 3 years on the body and all other electronics excluding the motor. Complete details on the warranty period are covered in the installation instructions.

hey just wanted to tell you from experience thats thw way that cut is designed on that turbo kit will mess your turbo up becuase when that cut out is not opened it forces the exhaust back to the turbo becuase its not a free flow when it is closed and u will blow that turbo up real fast. i know dis because i made a down pipe just like that i still have it and i can show u pixs. just wanted to let u know im not trying to hate. it would work better if the cut out was more toward the cat and off to the side so when it is closed u will still get that free flow and not cause that back pressure back to the turbo and mess it all up thanks

thanks for the info... but cheezefrog's downpipe setup shown is not what it being sold... only the electronic cutout... so it will be up to each person to design their setup to maximize flow... thanks, we will take this into consideration with our cars... btw, post pics of your damaged setup, i'd like to see them...
*edit*
below is another option for your ecutout setup that optimizes flow for your stock exhaust whereas the cheezefrog style optimizes flow for your open downpipe... either way, both setups use the ecutout and will show performance gains above your current exhaust

I'd be interested, but Id be more interested if it was the Qtec...from what I have heard the Qtec is of MUCH better quality.
Even if there is a warrenty(which there is on the Qtec too)...I'd rather NOT have to invoke it as this piece needs to be welded. What a bitch it would be to get/cut off, send back, get a new one and have it welded back on. That would cost way more than the Qtec bought only once!
My $0.02

just need to weld a flange on and the cutout bolts right to it..easy as **** and if it does fail you get a new one to bolt up..works for me.

... i am just curious... where you get this information?... the only place i could find anything on honda-tech on this was here... lemme know... thanks...
*edit* - i found this on google which supports ion_four's statement that they are the exact same unit... in fact, if you look at mccord's order page, they will upgrade the mpp1 sold from empire motorsports/quicktime performance...

... exactly!!!... and that is what i am going to do... get the y-pipe and flange welded to my current exhaust... and then block off the cutout until my ecutout comes in... then voila... - stock exhaust for daily driving - tuneable exhaust for the street - open downpipe for the track -
