just got the azenis, and here are my impressions
Very DISAPPOINTED!!! and not blaming on anyone
...
The majority here suggested that I get the Azenis 205/50/15 for my stock rims and I am a little disappointed with the steering feel. It's a little sluggish for my taste. Does not feel like the RE10 where I just point where I want to go, and it goes there. There is a little delay in the steering with the Azenis.
I also have the Rota Slipstream which are wider than the stock rims, If I put the Azenis on these Rota, would that solve the problems? I don't really want to do this because I currently running the R-compound tires (205/50/15) on the Rotas for track & autox.
should I increase the front pressure.. I am running 35 psi all around right now.
Any suggestions are appreciated
Thanks.

Azenis are slicker than **** through a goose until you take the first 1/16" off the tires and heat cycle em a few times. Dont go out and run the **** out of em, they will chop. They will get extremely sticky once you have worn em down.
as i mentioned in previous thread, get at least 15x7 wheels for 205/50-15 tires.. stock rims are o.k. for stock tires or sticky radials.. its better to invest in wider wheels so you can have stiffer sidewall feel.

What about 215-45-16 size?? I want eventually get the proper OEM size for my
JDM GM16's but I HATE loss of feel compare to BS 010s.

I don't know about that. I had 225/45 16 S-03's on 7" wide rims, and they were fine.. but I've never had the 215 Azenis on... I should have when I had the chance!

**** through a goose, that's an interesting way to put that! before i had these tires installed, people were telling me the same thing..."the tires will feel slippery at first, give it a good break in period and they'll be fine", i guess this is what they meant. I also heard they don't perform to well in rain/wet road conditions, anybody else heard this?

As long as you don't drive normal, you will be fine. The only way they really suck in the rain is when you are going faster than you should be, as will most tires.

exactly, it rains "often" where i live, and just as long as I drive normally, it's fine. I was just wondering if anyone heard that too...thanks for the reply/info.

Precisely. If you drive normally, they are fine in the rain. But drive like an idiot and they will suck.

Damn... Not what I wanted to hear. My second set of RE010s are almost dead with a track weekend in a few weeks.
The RE010s are almost telepathic turning instantly. I dont want to lose that feel. I also dont know if I want to spend that much money on another set.....

The azenis are awesome truthfully, a great buy for a cheap performance tire.
The key to retain as close to stock turn-in and steering response (notice I never said Exactly the same) is to go to 15x7" wide rims or even 15x7 1/2" for perfect square tire to rim. The vague or squirmy feel (on stock 15x6" rims) is the sidewalls flexing inwards and not being square true to the rim.
They are wider, for Gods sake, Alot wider than stock and any wider tire than stock will produce similar feel. The squirm is a different feel for the first couple hundred miles for certain but, after they break in a bit and of course you get used to them (their feel,) they are an awesome tire by far.

I just ran a test on the highway and they seem unstable at high speed. Maybe I should give them a little bit more time/milage like you guys said.
Would increase pressure on the front tires help? Anyway, i will give it a try and see how it goes.

I have good news!!
I up the front tires pressure from 35 to 37, 39 and finally 40 psi. At 40psi, it has improved the steering response a lot. I would say close to 95% comparing to the RE10. I feel much better now. I visually checked the tires at 40psi for the contact with the ground and they are flat. Rear pressure is 35 psi and these are for street driving.
Do you guys think 40 psi at the front is too much for street driving? it does not feel harsh at all.

I like to keep mine at 37 front and 34 rear for the street. I like the tire to asorb a little of the impact on a bump. I had the same problem with the azenis when I first put them on I was pissed off. but after I put a 1000 miles on them I was happy with them. I haven't had any problems with them in the rain. I thought they would hydro plane pretty bad because of the large contact patches, but I guess the sipes help out.
I did a poor man's heat cycle when I bought my Azenis (215/45/16s) - I immediately drove them at 60-70mph for about 60 minutes and left them to cool down overnight. I never experienced the slippery initial feel that some complain about.
However, the steering feel of these tires never became decent, particularly compared to my previous PZeros Asimmetricos.
Grip is great, but turn-in response is one of the ITR's best attributes and these tires destroy that. In 15" size these tires are a great bargain but they are $440 for a 16" set, which is only $100 cheaper than a set of PZeros, for example. PZeros offer almost identical levels of grip, wonderful feel, and are decent in the wet.
