Default new driver

Alright. . . I proudly own a '95 Honda Civic DX with the stock engine, D15B8. And seen as how I am new to this kind of hobby i need help and advice. I want to know what kind of bolt-ons i could use to make my 4 cylinder faster and give it more torque. I'm still thinking about a V-tech swap, but since i only make minimum wage its not my first choice... and also, what does a Torque Converter do exactly?

[BITE LIP]Well sir you do not exactly have the greatest platform in the world as far as engine's go to start witih. It can be done but there are easier ways for the money. I would save up for a "VTEC" swap, (the motor not the phone) and get your bolt-ons. I think you will be much happier that way. A TQ Converter is something that is used in automatic transmissions. Is your car automatic? If you so you may want to look into a manual conversion. Not saying automatics can't be fast, but the Honda one's weren't exactly made that way, so there's money spent there, not to mention that B-Series auto's are kinda few and far. SEARCH IS YOUR BEST FRIEND, KNOW IT, LOVE IT.[/BITE LIP]

Ok so i should save up for the VTEC. . . the only thing is I'll probably be 18 by the time i get the money. And what do you mean when you say the B-Series autos are few and far, aren't all honda parts very easy to come across?

Well yes and no. The problem is about the only place you are gonna find auto B-Series trannys in the US are from Integra RS/LS/GS. SI's, GSR's, ITR's never came in auto form. Like I said they aren't EXACTLY performance oriented in mind.

do what u have to do to save for a twin cam vtec swap....cuz even if u only buy bolt ons now ...later u cant use the header and ur gonna have to get ur exhaust modified for the gsr motor....the only thing u can use will be the intake...so save up ...its ur best bet.

Not performance oriented?!? whats not performance oriented?!? my sohc D15B8 or the whole car in general? Ok, so i know that the DOHC VTEC swap would be my very best bet. . . but whats this about tranny's?!? what is a tranny lol? See i told you i was new. . . I'm about the only one in my family who wants to understand cars. . . so I'm very interested in learning about mine. . . I guess for now, I'm just going to get a system installed then get a paint job and fix all the dings and scratches. . . then later i can worry about rims, swaps, exhausts, etc...
