H22 or H23?
what's the advantages and disadvantages between these two motors? planning to get one of these motors for my 92 sohc non-vtec lude.....

Well, if I was in your situation...and money wasn't too much of a concern..I would go with the H22.
Pros of H22:
Lower mileage
More horsepower
You get a warranty if you order form a distributor
You will receive all the parts needed for the swap.
Cons:
A little on the expensive side. You will be looking at $2600 or more just for the swap shipped to your door.
Install costs around $1300.
You will probably need to buy a new header
Pros for an H23:
Lower price for the swap.
Pretty impressive power
Cons:
High mileage engines
No warranty
Will probably need new belts, timing belt, water pump, clutch.
Install will cost around the same as an H22.
No VTEC
Also, a lot of these H23 that are being sold were driven by kids...most likely abused.

if u get an h22 i suggest you get JDM since its not so much more n with LSD and OBD1... plus low mileage.
h22 has about 30-40 more horsepower than the h23, but not much difference in the torque.
if you want vtec and the easy 30 or so horsepower, shoot for the h22.
h22 has low compression so if you want to turbo it you can, and so can the h23 easily. but i hear its not a good match. but i see it done often.
but i beg to differ about the mileage between the two engines. i do about 360-380 on my h23 on a tank. its not that bad at all.
install for the engine (around here anyway) runs for about 750.. i dont think the h22 is as expensive as a type r or anything seeing as to how its about a 2-3000 dollar difference.
its a hard decision. honestly i suggest you sell your S and get an Si or vtec.. although it is hard to find one with low miles. i got my si at 69000 mi last year and have been debating between swapping in an h22 but i decided to keep my h23 until it dies. choices...

i think he was talking about overall mileage before the engine blew, but it all depends on a setup, if you're looking to go all motor, which most ppl do, cause really they just want bolt ons, definately h22, wish i had one, and either are good for boosting if you have the money so i wouldnt say either are not a good match. you can always do the h23 for a lot cheaper and run a 50-75 shot naaaawz, and be up and past the h22
