anyone here succesfully done a Legend GS/NSX brake install???
For a 4g SI you'll need the Legend or NSX calipers, vtec caliper brakets, and the vtec rotors.
Once all thats on the car, the trick is bleeding the system. Since the Legend was designed with the brakes toward the back of the car the bleed screw will face down when bolted to the Prelude. To bleed, just unbolt the calipers and place them on the rotor so that the bleed screw is at the highest point. I saw someone on this site put the right caliper on the left side and so on. Because of the different pot sizes on each caliper (38mm & 440mm) you can't do this. Doing this will cause the pads to wear unevenly and making them taper.
These brakes are a million times better than the SIs. No fading or glazing, just pure stopping. I then compared these brakes with the 5gs stock brakes. From these tests I know that the f/r byas is wrong with the Legend swap. If you want more braking, you'll have to do 1 of 3 things.
1)Use the Prelude vtec perpotioning valve. This eliminates any question of safety like the next two while still increasing braking.
2) Use the Legend brake valve. It was designed with the front calipers in mind so the rear byas will be more aggressive. However, I don't know the specs of the Legend rear brakes. If they are much better than the Preludes then there would be too much rear byas and could cause the Prelude to have a spinning tendancy when braking in a turn.
3) This is the route I'm taking. I'm getting a Wilwood perpotioning valve for the rear and hard lining the front. This way I can set it for my driving style and be sure the byas is correct giving me maximum braking. To do this correctly tho, a brake system pressure guage is needed to make sure the initial setting for the rear isn't too high.
For all three, the brake lines will have to be modified to accept the different perpotioning valves.
