spoon ventuli plate????
does anyone have any exsperiance with spoons ventuli plate? i have read about it some on diferent sites and such but i wanted to ask if anyone on here had used it and if so were hp gains recieved
heres a picture for you that havent seen it b4:
and here is the discription spoon gives:
The innovative Spoon Sports ventuli plate increases mid-range horsepower and gives added torque. The ventuli plate replaces the stock intake manifold gasket. It's unique design gives the air flow a more streamlined approach towards it's entry into the combustion chamber. Good for about an extra 6-8 midrange HP. Available for the B16A/B16B and B18C5 engines.

does seem like it would choke the engine somewhat but it doesnt make sence for such a good company to make something that wouldnt work like that.... i just wanted to hear some first hand experience
it is called a ventuli = speed up air flow =, for a reason
it the same idea as a taper bore throttle body
<a bigger opening and a smaller hole> will create a more directed airflow at a greater speed
how does it choke your engine?

The b16 has a long rod stroke so the ventuli plate is supposed to crame more air in which improves midrange, in theory of course.

the word is" VENTURI"...not ventuli...i can't believe you guys actually call it that...the japs screwed up the pronuciation of it....lol. its a joke.. you actually think spoon can just make some rubber gasket..that restricts your ports....and think that it can improve on the intake manifold and cylinder head design that honda has spent millions of dollars developing????.....lol it chokes your engine of air.a marketing gimmick by spoon, that has obviously worked. lmao...
by clogging up the port they will limit top end power but in turn will give you the claimed 6-8 hp in the mid range...there not screwing around its a real claim there just not telling you the whole story....remember when your car was stock....probly had twice the bottom end pull it has all opened up /

I have never used one nor do i think i ever will....LETS NOT FORGET THAT SPOON, TODA, and MUGEN are all road race companies. What drag car do they have? So be weary when trying to purchase "some" performance parts from those companies.

do you pay attention to the large graphics on drag cars? obviously not, b/c you would've seen a couple of the afformentioned names in large colorful lettering.
midrange is unparallelled for the street environment, it's the place in the rev range your motor usually is. i personally wouldn't use a VENTULI plate for drag racing, but would definetly get it for auto-x or track day purposes.
oh, and you can feel 6-8whp in the midrange.

Way back in the day (late 90's), when swaps started really catching on in San Diego, a local guy (won't mention his name because of his scamming reputation) tried one of these gaskets in his B16, with basic bolt ons, very high compression, and a little headwork. It did in fact improve 2-4 hp on the dyno in the midrange, and he lost 10-12hp on the top end (revving to 8500) no matter how the sprockets and fuel were set. A few years later, my roommate got his first swap, a completely stock B16 into his hatch, and his friend that performed the swap for him, threw the same exact gasket into his intake mani (w/out him knowing
) as an experiment, to see if it would make a difference on a stock motor. No dyno, but similar results on the ***-o-meter, very little improvement in the mid, and a loss at the top.

Well like I said "SOME"........I know Erik Aguilar is running toda cams..Spec-D's...Don't get it twisted either...a lot of thier parts can work on a drag race car, but some obviously will not...Again what "CARS" outside of ERE are any of those companies(SPOON, MUGEN, TODA) are sponsoring? Im not against spoon, mugen, or toda.
Just remember real drag racing parts are USDM..i.e., crower, crane, RS, STR, JG, DART, portlow, alanaiz(sp?),SKUNK2, etc.....
You have a better chance of having a banner on your car from a USDM manufacturer than a JDM company.
IMO japan do not resleeve blocks or make aftermarket rods and pistons...So the true technology is here.

I think the above remark applies to you once again!
Toda, Jun, and Feels are a few JDM Honda tuners who do all of the stuff you listed above.
