Putting 3rd jdm 2.0 engine in a 97 prelude....
Long Story Short... (not really)
My buddies shop was gunna do a head on a prelude... one of the parts places they deal with pushed a jdm engine on them (kind of pushed they were interested cuz it was cheaper than a new/reman head).
First goes in... slips timing belt on test drive... upon dis-assembly the cam shaft journal was worn to crap and is obviously why it slipped... that whole cam was siezed.
Second one goes in... Oil light pops on every once and a while the turns off... customer takes it (company wouldn't replace the engine based on intermitent oil pressure prob.) Blows HOURS away from the shop... my buddy and his brother has to drive all the way to it and trailor it back to the shop...
SO... tomorrow we're putting in the 3rd engine from this company (getting kinda rediculous at this point.)
Just figured I'd put the story out... I've heard of problems and all from these engines sitting but apparently the extra couple of years REALLY makes a difference...
We'll see how this one goes this weekend.

Isn't the whole point of a "swap" that it "swaps" right in... it's not called a core... which is what you would get to rebuild...
also what percentage of people actually rebuild these things before they drop them in? I'd be shocked if it was over 20%.
And this is for a daily driver it's not a performance app or so the dude can be all cool driving around with a jdm engine... it's for an old dude that needs a reliable car.... which doesn't seem to be in the near future...

SORRY .... the thread title is a typo.. it's an 87...
that's what it came with... it's a direct swap... just a jdm engine...
it's the b20 whatever..
Like I said it's not for a "dude"... it's for an old guy who's a customer at my buddies station.
He could care less about torque... he just wants a running car.

87? Oh that makes more sense...
