Actual header HP gain...?
ok so i was looking at DC headers for my coupe and this is what they claim: INCREASES HORSEPOWER BY 10-20HP.... now is that one of those if you install it like a pro and your lucky as hell you'll get that much? or is that the real gain? And is DC header not the best company i should go with?
10-20 hp is a joke. You will only experience a max gain of 5whp. The stock EX header already releases a sufficient amount of air. A DC header is just a little overpriced, in my opinion. Nick M brought up the idea of using a Kamikaze header, and adding a 2.5" collector.
ok, well i am new to HT, and so there are some terms used that i have no idea what the real explanation is: for example whp? I know that mean wheel hp or something like that. Can someone please explain what the difference is. And how much whp does my car have? Will i notice that change when i put the headers in?
Yes, whp = wheel hp. Your car comes with 150hp/152lbs/tq stock. But if you have "ULEV-VTEC" on your valve cover, and quarter-panel windows, you have 148hp/150lbs/tq stock. Those numbers are the hp at the crank. Wheel hp is the amount of power at the wheels, which actually gets the car moving.
A stock 6th Gen I4 with a manual tranny will have about 120-125whp. One with an auto tranny will have about 105-110whp due to the power loss. By installing a header, you may feel a small change. If you complete the I/H/E package (intake/header/exhaust), there will be an improvement over the stock power. That is a certainty.
