need some emotional support, I miss my CRX
I've been driving my ex's 89 MR2 around for the last week. I don't like it. It's got more horsepower AND shorter gearing, but somehow it's not as jumpy as my stock 91 Si is. And it's about twice as loud, cuz the engine is right behind my head.
Anyway, my crx is dead at the time, I blew up the motor. I'm scrounging up some bucks to do a complete rebuild. Yes, I know, everyone thinks I should swap in a B-series engine instead of messing around with an old non-vtec sohc. But, if I do a B-series swap, it will:
a) cost me twice as much
b) put me in the unlimited bracket with the SCCA
c) create a whole mess of brand new quirks and problems that I can't afford to fix later
So, that's my theory on why to build a D16A6 to factory spec along with a full balance job. If anyone has experience building engines, feel free to advise me. This will be my first engine build. I've already got a great machine shop doing the metal work for me, but I'm going to be doing all of the assembly.

Man, I dont know, 89 Mr2s are dirt slow, or that gen. I have raced plenty of tehm, good freind has one and is a good driver, and i smoked him in my stock dx, and killed him in my sohc vtec and it was on its last leg...
man, I don't wanna hear it lol........ I have thrashed 2 CRXs now, and look what the hell I'm driving around! haha
Anyways, if you plan on staying competitive in your SCCA class, just build your D16 to the hilt N/A....... but to be honest, B series are hella more fun

I hear you man, I have been without my car for almost a month now. I have been driving around my dads 2nd gen RX7 convertable (POS). But I have finaly started to work on replacing the tranny. Good luck with your car!
I know B-series are more fun, but I'm actually thinking of goin for a trophy or two in my coming years with the SCCA. So, a B-series is gonna have to wait until I can afford a second Honda, hopefully a lil tiny 1st gen CRX to stuff it into
