Does anyone know how much HP a G.P> GT has? My friend has one with a couple of mods, nothing super powerful or anything. I just got my '96 vtec 'lude yesterday, and before I boost it up I want to see if I could beat or at least keep up with him. I know driving and other factors make a difference so don't try telling me all that crap I alredy know.... does anyone know the HP on a Grand Prix?

Nope. Well, I shouldn't say stock. I had little nit picky things. Intake and Header I think. But that's nothing compared to what I have now. It was on the interstate, he wanted to pick on me, and I thought "oh hell, supercharger." But it turned out to not be as fast as I thought. I walked on him every time. *shrugs*
My car ran a 14.72 stock w/ NO mods or boltons.

 

So the one you took was a GTP model (supercharger)? My friend has a GT model (non supercharged). His car has pretty good pick up and all my other friends think its pretty fast.

 

oh hell, NON sc? Unless your car is in retard mode, or you've forgotten how to drive, I'd say you have a good chance of cleaning his clock.

What religion is atshaccord? and you think I can really smoke a GT with stock vtec? ( I'm not doubting, I'm just 'syked ) Another interesting thought is that my friend with the GT said he knew of a guy that had a supercharged Grand prix and beat a mustang cobra! ( Do you think he' s full of crap?)

You would smoke the GT with ease. I have a heavy 5th Gen Prelude and I smoke the GTs and walk away from the GTPs with ease. Those cars are overrated for some reason. I have seen them racing at the track on Import days and the fastest GTP I have seen run was a 15.7 @ 90mph. My Lude is running 15.0 flat all motor with I/H/E and 23lbs 17" rims. You will have no problems beating your friend's GT. Go for the GTP too if that guy wants to race.

 

What about a vtec and a cobra?

 

Sorry, while the Vtec lude will eat the GT or GTP for lunch...against a cobra, u gonna be eatin' some dirt.

 

My friend that has the Grand Prix test drove a cobra, ( he was thinking of buying one) and was really disappointed. He said it was pretty weak and he knows what hes talking about. His dad owns 3 stock car racers and is all up into racing. What do y'all think?

 

Um, yea....your friend that drives the GP....what's he smokin? ...seriously, if he thinks the cobra is weak, and was dissapointed...how in the world can he stand a GP? The Cobra is NOT a weak car...I don't think he knows what he's talking about.

Just race him, and beat him with your VTEC lude. That's what you wanted in the beginning anyway, right?

 

Actually......the old Mustang Cobras aren't that fast. 94-95 Stang Cobras only pushed out 240 horses @4800RPM and 280 Torque @4000RPM with the 5.0 OHV V8. Its only when Ford switched to the DOHC 4.6 in 96 that the Cobra got really fast. the 96-98 Cobras pushed out 305 horses and 300lb/ft of Torque. 96-98 GTs got slower but the Cobras got faster. if his friend with the GP was test driving the 94-95 Cobras then he would be disappointed cause they're really not fast at all (0-60 in 6.3 and 1/4 mile is high 14s). If he was testing in a 96-98 then it would have been a different story. Those are capable of high 13s passes in the 1/4.

I raced a 95 Cobra once and he only beat me by about 1 1/2 car length which suprised the hell out of me. Then I did some researched on it and found out that they're not that fast at all til 96 and up. The 99+ are the ones to fear. 99+ GTs are low 14 second cars and Cobras are low 13s to high 12s second cars!!!

 

I just found out that one of my other friends wants to get a mustang. Nothing special, just a 5.0 in the late 80's or early 90's. He thinks he's going to be pretty bad with it. You think I can smoke'em?
