Does the tapping get louder and faster as you rev the engine? Or does it stay constant but loud?

Sounds like you need to adjust your valves man.

Stick a flathead on your valve cover in a bunch of areas around where the valves are... and you will be able to tell if it is your valves tapping...

Let me know.

well i did that screwdriver on hte valve cover thing and it does sound louder near the #1 and 2 cylinder valves, but what i couldnt determine was whether it was coming from the bottom or the top of the motor, but ill try adjust my valves and see what that does, but it does sound like its coming from the back of the motor, more in the intake mani side near the #1 and 2 cylinders

Hmmm... Ya I see what your saying.

Only way I can say is to pull the valve cover off and check to see if the valves are within spec... but remember to adjust them when the engine is cold....

If its not the valves, then well... it could be your rod knocking... but lets go one by one... so keep me posted.
