Default H22 or keep h23?

i have a 96 si with about 85K on it. i originally bought this car in orlando florida, its from oregon, and it was salvaged. im figuring the car was t boned since my drivers side and center rear console have been replace to blue instead of being the original black. well anyway, ive put a lot of money into fixing it since then. Ive fixed things from cv axles, to control arms, to changing all the belts, doing the 90k service, adjusting valves, and to pulling the friggin antenna wire trailing from the passenger door sill to the the rear backseat. (whoever had the car was an idiot).

I've been debating on whether or not to keep my h23 or swap in an h22. I would like to have vtec and go all motor, but im still not sure if i wanna turbo it. the h23 has nothing as of yet done to it. i can get an h22 with lsd and OBD 1 for about 3400 and sell my h23 for some compensation. but there are pro and cons into the situation and wanted to see what you guys think.

Well, i think if you want quick power just get a turbo, then when you blow your motor down the road then think about getting a h22 or just rebuild your h23 and get an even bigger turbo.

mmm yeh, if i want to not be able to get to work or school, and lose my job. besides even if i turbo-ed & blew it, i would have to get a new engine somehow anyway. i got this MY "dream car", 2 years ago at 69K miles for 7k$. i plan on doing a lot more with it then slapping a turbo on it for "quick speed." turbo is just an easy way out.

First, don't ask for opinions if you don't want them, ***!!! Second, if you do it right you can run a turbo on your "dream car" for years with no problems. AND if its your "dream car" then you shouldn't want to get vtec because then it wouldn't be your "dream car" any more.

Well, after seeing all what you have done to the engine (maintanence wise) I think you should keep the motor a little longer.

I am in a similar situation. I have 160K miles on my car It needs a new timing belt, due for a new water pump, and the belts need changing. I needed a new clutch too but I already had that changed because I couldn't find a H22 in time.

I am in search for an H22 again.

mm okay chk4tix or whatever.. you dont have to be so offended over a post where i didnt even say anything mean. did i say anything about callin of the sort? mmm yeh. grow up. but youre just another one of those ppl who like to argue on message boards i guess. im sorry but the whole world isnt going to agree with everything you say. its real life baby.

on to important things, i think i consider keeping my h23 too since ive put so much work and money into it already. maybe ill just do all i can with my h23, and if i decide to turbo it when i have nothing else to spend my money on, i will. and when that engine dies ill just replace it with an h22.

JDM h22 WITH cash? theres a catch.

how about putting a h22 head on your h23 block?

i'm not sure how you feel about that, and honestly i don't know much about that particular operation, but perhaps someone more enlightened can shed some light on that alternative...

seems like the best of both worlds--vtec with extra displacement...

to turboing Preludes. They were never meant to be turboed.

Case in point: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=568421

I say keep the H23 a little longer.

that means his H22 and your h23 plus you give him some cash to compensate for teh difference:

like h23 and 500 bucks or whatever:

not that he is giving you h22 and some cash too

h23 motors love the boost. Get a small turbo, don't run high psi, and your motor will run fine. Going with a smaller turbo means you can keep much of your stock internals and you'll have a significant power increase. You will prolly have to replace your clutch/flywheel, but hey that will take a half second or so off your ETs alone.
