UH OH broke my rocker arm holder thing
damn it. i was "rebuilding" my Z6 head with some cam lube and when i was putting the rocker arms back on i guess i tightened the bolts out of order and the distributor casing part of it snapped. i still put it back together careully and it looks like it should hold up what do you guys think . heres where the crack is
wtf..bigger picture and no. it'll leak, it'll break off youll lose lots of other parts. don't screw around with such a highly mobile area of your engine. If it happened to be a valve cover crack or your oil pan i'd say weld or jb weld, but that crap is costly. do it right
its just the distributor housing part of it. not a mobile part and there is no load on it. it was a clean crack that almost disappeared. i will leak but it will leak right back into the head. i know this is a chance but i can not afford to buy a new head just for that part. ill try to find a better picture.

its on the head? not part of the rocker arm assembly? You can probably be ok with it but it may be something where not enough oil is in the part of the head and the cam could seize right then and there. If you can weld do a weld job on it. wouldn't be too hard and if its small it'll most likely be enough
its near the two 10mm bolts that hold the dist tight in its housing but it lifts off the head. the crack is all inside the valve cover. the only problem i could see is if a lot of oil leaked in through the crack it could make its way out of the engine via that rubber gasket on the distributor. i do not have any welding equipment or experience and neither do any of my friends. ive heard a lot about jb weld but i dont know where i can get it. would it work in this situation? the main purpouse here would be to make an oiltight seal
Damn, that's not the place you want anything to crack. I don't know if your head will seal correctly. Let alone have the distributor attached to it. I would take it to a machine shop and see if they can weld it back. The weld may not be as strong as it should considering. Good luck though. I hope you don't need to buy a new head, though that would be the safest thing to do.
