1st Time Brake Install
Hey all,
my front rotors are completely shot and deeply grooved as well as my pads almost completely burned through. I just ordered some brembo blanks and am about to pick up some axxis metal masters pads from the local shop. What i need to know is the following:
1)What parts do i need aside from the pads and rotors?
2)What tools/supplies do i need for this operation?
3)Where should i look for a procedure on how to do this installation?
4) Do i need to bleed the system?
Sorry for the lengthy post but i want to do this job right and i know some of you can really help. oh and i searched..came up with nothing too helpful.

>>1)What parts do i need aside from the pads and rotors?<<
Brake fluid, brake parts cleaner is okay to have, but not a "must."
2)What tools/supplies do i need for this operation?
YOu need a ratchet, a 14mm socket, an impact driver, a hammer, and a c-clamp to recompress the piston back in to the caliper.
>>3)Where should i look for a procedure on how to do this installation?<<
There's a link furnised on ntpog.org in addition to the one listed in the above post.
>>4) Do i need to bleed the system?<<
If you're only replacing pads & rotors, and not touching the lines, etc. then no, you won't need to bleed, but you'll need to top off the brake fluid resevior b/c it'll leak out some fluid when you recompress the piston. It's a really easy job, and while yuo're at it, you should go your tranny fluid, too.

good call. the last time i changed my pads i had a problem getting the piston to compress. so i opened the line and released the fluid. at which point i had to bleed them. forgot about that :hammer, soory for the misinformation
