Default question about insulating wrap

i have some exhaust insulating wrap for headers. my question is that if i wrap my cai would it keep heat from getting to the cai? since cold air is coming in from the bumper wouldnt the wraps keep it that temp and not let engine heat affect it?

Yes, it will keep the piping itself cooler. There are some all motor 10 second hondas that the builders have used this method.

Weither or not it works I could not tell you. Some argue that the air is moving so fast that it doesn't have enough time to heat up anyways.

Heat exchange can occur almost as rapidly.

My thoughts as well, but I have seen it argued both ways.

FYI - I do have my intake wrapped.

I think what is more important is the temp for the air source. Running with a CAI will see more benefits than just wraping alone.

I suppose wrapping your cai piping wouldnt hurt but i dont think you'll see much of a difference.

i just got through wraping my intake, and i took it out for a test run to see if i can tell any thing. Needless to say its hot as hell in nc right now and i ran the car for about a half an hour and then got back home and took off some of the wrap to see if my tube was hot.....it was still as cold as it was before i cranked it! i dont feel a huge gain or anything, but its still cool to know that i have a very well made cai that will really go well with the tanabe racing medalion im getting.

I found some wrap at a local Home Depot. It's sold in rolls, two different sizes. It is made of bubble wrap sandwitched between an aluminum sheet. 3 layers wrapped around my CAI is awesome!!
