Default how many people have had there car stolen or broken into?

In recent months I personally have read about a dozen "My car was stolen" Threads. Over the time I have been on these MB's I have read countless such threads. What is being done wrong here? Not just Type R's or not even just Tegs in general, but Civic and accords as well. I'd say out of all the posts I have read about 1 on 3 didn't have an alarm or the alarm wasn't armed. I think I read maybe two in the last two years about someone using a Flatbed wrecker. One person got drunk over a friend's house and his keys were taken along with his car.
This post is not to offend anyone or to make fun of those who have suffered a loss. But we can use this to inform others how to protect their cars.

Is there some sort of registry of stolen or destroyed ITRs? If not, maybe there should be just so we know how fast they are becoming extinct.

My GSR was broken into about 5 times when I lived in an apartment in pompano beach. ******* gheto, but it was only $350 a month for rent and 10 strip clubs with in 2 miles so it was worth it

With the ITR, its has not been broken into yet. Perhaps cause I park it in a garage at home and its about 2 feet from the door at my work.

Just a hint, move the hood release cable out of the wheel fender, and put an alarm pin on the hood.

they don't pull the cable by the fender.. but by the grill.. they stick there hands up there and pull the cable down.... i move the cable to the back of the radiator support.. that seens to work... you can also install a mesh grill on it

Mine was broken into once, but it was random thuggery, not an attack on my car. Now, it was vandalized twice and hit-and-run'd once, but not stolen

I can't stress the importance of these enough:

</TD></TR></TABLE>That is true, but they also do it by the fender. I came out one morning to my GSR with the hood poped and the fender liner pulled out. They cut the outside of the cable and simply pulled it to pop the hood.

This is when I move the cable and then about 3 weeks later the same thing happend and i could not figure out how they did it. Then i found the hood cable was fucked up right at the latch and figured they went through the grill. I then made a little u channel out of aluminum and wraped the cable around it. I was debating sharpening the edges to a razor finish, but decided against that as I didn't want some dumb as thief lopping off a few digits then sueing me

Why not just disconnect the switch, it would make them virtually the same no? Did this with a friend on his arghhh, it seems to function just the same as getting those. or am i missing something.

RS Integra door bezels. They eliminate the silver tab near the bottom of the window that activates the auto door locks. Now it it's harder for the thieves to unlock the doors.

You want the visual deterrent as well. If you just disable the switches, thieves might still try, and end up phucking up your door/window.

Stock alarm sucks... it just a false sense of security.

Get a good alarm with a pager/hood pin, those RS door bezels are great and they are cheap... so is a kill switch.

well thanks to you two all the same.

I read folks replacing their bezels those from the RS model as they have no power lock switch.

I dont think the rs door handles are a good deterrent. It took me only about 10 seconds longer to open the door using a coat hanger to move the black manual switch rather than the power window silver tab. btw, my car was broken into and the whole steering column was busted up. Luckily ,the idiots didn't know much about cars, and werent able to get it started.

you guys have to be careful too about your door locks also (the ones next to the toggle power lock switches). Although the RS eliminates the power door lock switches, thieves can just flip the door locks just as easy.. I disconnected everything exterior and interior wise dealing with the locks. My friend told me something about someone can get into your car by just popping a screwdriver into the keyholes too.. So just disconnect the key holes (take out the metal wire connecting the keyhole to the lock in the door so the locks can't be slimjim'ed), disconnect the metal wire connecting to the door lock switch inside on the interior door panel, and get some RS bezels.. NOTE: this would only apply to cars with power door locks and an alarm to go with them. This way if you did everything from above, the only way in a out is through your alarm system, (when you arm your car, you won't be able to open the doors in any manner but breaking the window). If you also do these things I would suggest getting a seperate power door lock switch installed somewhere in your middle dash, somewhere not visible and not accessable in case the theif can reach into your car. Peace

Every little bit helps. But get yourself a good alarm system like Clifford G5 avant guard 5 I have the previous version of this called the Avant guard 4 and it is a dream. If a thief gets through this alarm then they get my props.

Most alarms and visual detterants with do just that deter most average thieves. If you don't have a hood sensor then the thieves can easily opo your hood and clip the wires to the siren or to the brain of your alarm and then you have no protection. With the Clifford there is a battery back up in the siren and wireless cut off switches, Proximity sensors and tons more.

As for the Auto Lock/unlock I installed a discrete switch to disable the electric locks. I did this to prevent someone from getting into the trunk easily. Those of you who had an alarm what brand and model was it or was it a factory unit?

trunk was broken into. The key hole barely works anymore and I have some killer scratches and dents due to it. Fortunately, it's gutted in the back and my golf clubs weren't in there.

theres a way around the alarm.. my car was stolen that way. I had everything you listed above. But I wont go into detail as to how they did it.

I Got a steering wheel club and a clutch/brake club. Also have my immbolizer and alarm lights flashing all the time where anyone looking into the car from the side windows can see them.
There's so many ITR's in BC so I just make it look like "hey there's plenty here. this 1 is a waste of time" Hope that helps.....

Was your Alarm the Clifford? If so did they give you the 3000 dollars for their Gaurantee? With G4/G5 Technology it make it nearly impossible to by pass this alarm. This Alarm came HIGHLY Recommended by a repatriated Car thief who works for the police now.

well i gota admit the clifford g4 is pretty damn good. not really sure about the g5 yet. 60% is alarm but the other 40% is installation. if you get a crappy install then more likey it easy to by pass. word of advise 80-90% of 5 speed can be pop start cause the alarm was to kill starter only works great if you own an auto. I install alarm and audio for a living.

In the 3 years I've been here, I've seen a lot of ITRs go. I've heard of everything from them being stolen out of police impounds, being stolen with boomerangs, lojac, custom gps systems, every alarm. Seen them stolen out of garages while the owner chases them dont the street, seen them move cars out of the driveway to get the ITR out, seen them push the ITR down the street with another car, seen websites that sell generic keys that start any integra, etc, etc, etc.

Basically theres nothing you can do. An alarm wont save it. A pager might alarm or gps system might.

Ask yourself this... How many wires does a theif have to plug up to a custom ecu to bypass your alarm? How quick could they steal your car if they have a generic key that starts all integras?

I used to lock my R up light a crazy paranoid person. Since I dont drive it that much for the past year. My love for the R was not there like it used to. I let my guard down by being careless like leaving the key inside while it was park in the garage. It was stolen a few days ago by some ghetto boys. But I got it back in 1 piece due to lojack.
