I have a 95 Del Sol that I bought about 1 month ago that is going to be strictly used as a daily driver. And I just bought some Ground Control coilovers. From what I've read on the website I might as well put new shocks on at the same time that I put my coilovers on.
Considering money is definetly a issue and my car is a daily driver what is your opinion of a decent/inexpensive shock that would go well with GC to have a decent ride?

Please let me know, I appreciate your opinions

 

All "good" shocks are going to cost you. Probably as much as you paid for the GC's themselves. I had GC / Bilstein HD's on my 98 civic and really liked the ride. When I removed them after 7 months there was water in the HD's when I turned them upside down. You just have to be careful of how much of the dust boot cover you trim. I'm ot even sure if this problem can be avoided when cutting the dust boot cover. Bilstein recommends you NOT mod the shocks, but you have to with coilovers

This time around I am going with Tein SS since that set-up will only run me about $150-200 more than my previous set-up. This time I don't have to modify the shock to the coilover

KYB's are supposed to be good. But, my buddy has them on his 99LX and he saying one is blown and it's not even been a year yet. This is also a daily driven car with Eibach pro-kit springs.

Anyhow, besides the water in the shock when I removed the HD's, they get a from me.

Oh, and search is your friend

 

The last thing you want to do is go cheap on the shocks. I know that sounds like a pain in the *** considering you just shelled out this money for springs, but your car will ride like **** if you don't.

If you want an awesome shock then go with Koni Yellows, but KYG AXB are pretty decent from what I hear.

I would say your spring rates have an effect on the decision. What are they?

 

i bought my kyg's and i really like them.. they are "cheap" but the quality of the shock is really good so far..

 

The Tokico Illuminas(5-way adjustables) are pretty decent also, I had them and I liked them. They have a lifetime warranty and if anything goes on those you'll get a new shock. I don't know if any of the other shock manufacturers have the same kind of warranty on their shocks.

See what is in your budget and go for it.

Is that the company that won't hold to the warranty if dropped more than 1.5"?

 

i would recommed Illuminas 5-way adjustables with the ground controls i have them on my eg very nice setup imo
