I know we have received calls on these SOHC Manifolds. And since we do alot of SOHC build ups, of course we are going to stock this part.
Holler at me if you want to be on our list to get it on our first batch of 30 units.
I want to get a list just in case it comes SOONER so we can give ya a call, email or IM.
No commitment necesarry, no payment, etc.. just shoot the info this way
Need: first name, email, phone#(if ya like), state. H-T IM is best so its not posted up for everyone to see.
GRACIAS.

Rudy,
As much as I want to have them now, Skunk2 still does not have a final release date.... But since they come to the shop to get blocks machined, we have had the chance to ask here and there about info on them. Its getting close.. there had to be revisions I believe on the original design so hopefully we can get them soon.

is the manifold going to modeled after the Y8 manifold? (like how the skunk b-series manifold is pretty much a type-r) or will it be better?

It looks like a mini-ITR manifold.

I'm wondering which will make it to market first, Skunk or Edelbrock.....and which will perform better.
I heard the Edelbrock manifold should be out by month end.

Skunk2 has the better advertising.
I havn't heard **** about the eldebrock SOHC manifold.

Yeah.....it helps that I have the inside scoop....Edelbrock is too focused on the turbo kit. The stand alone Y8 manifold that is the same casting as the one in the turbo kit is finished, just waiting on small stuff, like putting them in a box! Unlike the first B series manifolds, this is a street manifold...hence the PerformerX name. Good for NA and turbo!

Im expecting the Edelbrock manifold to be for turbo applications. For street applications the SKunk2 has a better design. Im hoping it would do better than the Y8 conversion. With like our Stage 3 Head package and stock bottom end A6, Im hoping it would turn out some good numbers like 145hp to the wheels with our mild SR909 cam.
and adding a decent Stage 1 bottom end, im hoping the SKunk2 manifold can bump up the hp a bit to like 170-175whp on the A6 motor as well.

You obviously haven't seen the new Edelbrock manifold...its nothing like the first Victor X manifolds.
Although, I haven't seen any test data published for either one. I have the Edelbrock manifold on my car, but it was installed along with the turbo kit. From what I saw of the Skunk manifold, the Edelbrock manifold looks to have longer runners than Skunk and a larger plenum.
The Skunk also looked like a mess, since it had bosses on it for all the different years of Civics.
So what's the availability date on the Skunk manifold?

OH i dont mean to say the Edelbrock cant be used for all motor applications... Im ASSUMING that since it does have a way larger plenum that in most SOHC all motor applications, it might do worse that good since it doesnt necesarrily need MORE air volume... you have to think of proper air velocity as well to have a good flowing intake system.
I certainly dont think the Edelbrock SOHC manifold would be beneficial to a setup with just IHE.

I just got back from the local Skunk2 dealer. I put a down payment and I hope I get one. He said there was a total of 65. By the time he talked to his Skunk2 guy there were 45. That was last night. *crosses fingers*

So I am assuming, that since you do a lot of business with Skunk, can you give any performance insight to the Skunk manifold? How much whp do you gain with a car with IHE?
I know the Edelbrock guys did all the testing of their SOHC manifold on a NA car with IHE, and found that performance difference between their manifold and the stock one showed similar result on a NA as a turbo car. So they concentrated on developing a NA manifold and once performance gains were found, used it for the turbo kit. Just pushing turbo kits out the door is a priority and the manifold by itself took a little longer to push thru the shop.
It'll be interesting, since it looks like these manifolds are going to hit the market at about the same time! Looks like a manifold shootout is in order!

I guess Im only assuming that the SKUNK2 will make more power than the stock manifold. .. but of course, in honesty, we all dont know yet unless there are the dyno results.
I'll hold off on what I really know about the Skunk2 manifold until the FINAL product is made and dyno results prove it.
My assumptions maybe wrong and either manifolds may not be a good buy. Because we all know the Y8 manifold is already a good option in any case. and its cheap too...
I dont doubt Edelbrock though, they have a good R&D team. I've spoken with Brent M along time ago before the SOHC kit came out. and he is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guy.

Brent....a cool guy?!?! I'm not so sure, he's mean to me!
I'll have to see whether I can twist someone's arm to get a dyno sheet.....

why would they put that hunk where the pgfi sticker goes, i bet they molded that bitch directly from a z6 manifold.

Good question.
Good question.
Port match a y8 manifold and forget about the Skunk name. This name-game is now getting to be like back in the day when everyone had to have Skidz pants, Reebok Pumps, snap bracelets, or the forever dreaded "gimp" plastic weave ****...
If you insist on spending money (still probably less than the Skunk mani) ExtrudeHone a y8 manifold.
