Default Engine management for all motor race car...

Putting the race car together shortly and undecided as to what we are going to go with. Right now it is looking like Haltech. and no one tell me Hondata, all factory wiring has been removed and I have no plans to put it back in. What else should I be considering?

Maybe a motec system can help you out. What type of racing are you planning to do?

Drag race only.
2.0L, 14:1 comp ratio, as of now it will run an intake manifold but ITB's are a possibility in the future.

As for the Speed Pro/FAST, is there a website, tech support, contact info?

Depends. The skunk integra (10 sec NA) ran just a chipped ecu with a fuel controller so it could idle with the cams they were using. I don't know how Omniman does some of the things he does, that's an accomplishment.

I know of people who also use Motec for competitive NA racing.

So your choices range from chipped ecu ($200?) to motec ($3,000?) and everything in between.

But if you have to re-wire your car I would say Autronic.

All blanket statements. Haltech is out of business. Erick does not use Hondata and AEM is far from sucking.

Autotronic is

[QUOTE=letholone]erick uses a CHIPPED ecu.

QUOTE]

Its the same thing. Hondata is a chip just like the Mugen chip...its just tuned for your exact setup. Decide now ifyou are going to do itb's or not in the future. that should have a good deal of weight in your decision. Honestly the smartest thing to do is use whats most comfortable with the tuner. If u are tuning it then look at what systems offer what you need. But if the tuner doesnt feel comfortable with the system then whats the point?

I will probably be the one doing the tuning. I have little experience in tuning a stand alone but am eager to learn, my only experience being helping my friend wire in his haltech and gettting it started. I don't mind spending a good bit of time learning but I also don't want a system that is overly complicated.

So is the Autronic system somewhat user friendly, any support forums?

anybody with computer skills and the right equipment can make their own "hondata". hondata is a simple deal that alot of ppl are not emulating. im not a tuner by any means but my friend can manipulate anything on a chip just like hondata. even has full throttle launch and 2 stage rev limiting abilities. i say **** hondata cause its nothin special. its just the hype on the street right now.

It's time for your friend to make money if he can do anyting hondata does. A little competition for Hondata would be good for the consumer.

Or it's a very inexpensive ways for people who have no clue about computers or tuning to allow them to run a much bigger turbo, all motor, s/c etc... set-up for the street and have it run like it was stock. Such negativity.

This past weekend when I was with my teamate Erick Aguilar I noticed he was making some changes to his car via the lap top. I wanted to see what the software was, and sure enough it was hondata. After all his crew chief Derrick is from hondata. I even saw the ROM burner to burn the chip, but I didnt see him actually make a chip. But it could be my mind playing tricks on me from the beers I had the night before. Damn tina and scott getting me puffy face!
