Default B16A or H22 in my EK?

Well, I have a 1st gen. B16A, it's cable and non-obd. Some say it would a hasal puting it in, but I can get the work done for a good price. To put the B16 in would only cost about 300 bucks, for the hasports clutch conversion kit. I can get a lagit H22 complete for about 1200 bucks, so to get this motor I would need to sell my B16. This is a street/drag/autocross car, so I heard there would be lots of understeer with the H22, and I don't want that. What should I do?

Uhhhh, mid 15's w/ B16 for 300 or 13's w/H22 for 1600 with mount kit??

I choose H22, no understeer w/ good suspension, you can run a search and find out everything you need to know about that.

Just because it's a "VTEC" motor doesn't mean that it's totally awesome compared to all sorts of other motors.

Secondly don't you guys realize that the H22A is also "VTEC" to?

A B16A first-gen compared to an H22A is no comparison.

The H22A will slap the **** out of the B16A in EVERY possible scenario!

I own a B16A2 and a B18C5 and I'm telling you that the B16A would get destroyed by the H22A in nearly every possible scenario.

What the H22A adds in weight it absolutely destroys the B16A in torque. A B16A would be lucky to dyno 100ft-lbs. of torque to the wheels. A properly running H22A can lay down at least 30 more ft-lbs. than that easily.

Even in a auto-X I'd still say the H22A would beat the B16A down because there's a lot of low-end grunt needed for auto-X and the B16A lacks that for sure when compared to the H22A.

Sorry but this is a silly comparison IMO.

If you already had the good B16A2 with the right stuff to out that in your EK I'd say maybe do the B16A2 since you already had the RIGHT ****, but since it's the totally wrong B16A I say sell it and start all over.

Very true. H22 in everyway isn't even comparison to the B16A unless the B16A has a **** load of mods, while the H22A remains stock.

As for:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">so I heard there would be lots of understeer with the H22, and I don't want that. What should I do?
</TD></TR></TABLE>

Whoever has told you that or you heard from is a complete moron and doesn't know jack ****. Because understeer isn't existant with the front sway bar.

Obviously with no sway bars, etc, any car will have understeer.

as much as i dont like the h22. i'd have to agree with everyone and say h22

b series isnt the greatest, reaching its pinnacle at 200 hp with the b18c5.

but a b18c5 isnt even the case. its just a b16a, and yea, your going to need a lot of "low end grunt" so go with the h22. youll be happy with it

i made 108 stock, 111 slightly tuned.

back to the topic, H22A no contest. best bang for the buck, but i hear they suck to swap into a civic.

Okay B16A vs H22 is a no brainer if your wanted hella torque and power, my friend has a H22 in his EG and its just a blast to drive i've also drove a 2001 GSR with a B18C5 and i still prefer the H22.

Just thought i would give my input

YAY! then I guess I'll go with an H23A. I'll find a Mount kit for any engine from http://motormountworld.com

I would suggest the H22 over the H23 Unless you were thinking about putting on a vtec head on the H23.
and i would suggest HASport mounts over other mounts.
