Well I just thought you guys might be interested to know the exact weight of the rear wiper and motor. I hear people say crazy things like it will save you 25lbs and yadda yadda. Well my friend decided to pull his off and weigh it on the shipping scale a few minutes ago cause we were bored at work...

Rear Wiper/Moter = 3.15lbs

 

d00d, thats like .002 secs in the 1/4

Take a **** before you run the track and thats a whole .004 seconds.

We are going to weigh various other things as they come off the car or if we get bored again at work, which I'm sure we will.

 

Weight the AC system ... i'd like to know how much I saved.

just think if you are fat you can go on a diet, work out, lose 50lbs, and gain chicks and time in the 1/4 mile.

Not true, mine opens as slow as ever.

 

Weight reduction is not looking for a large amount of weight to take off at once. If you're removing just the wipers for weight, that's just retarded. My car weighs 2,375lbs last time I weighed it. It should easily be in the mid 2,250s now with all the 3lbs here and there I've removed.

 

The only reason I took mine off, is because I go to the car washes and don't feel like having to deal with it getting snagged up on the machines... and I never used it.

Believe me Len, I understand completely. If you remember my Hybrid was gutted to nothing - I'm all about saving weight where you can. I just thought it was funny that people were saying things like 25lbs and crazy numbers. Plus I think it's cool to know how much certain things weight - I like to know dumb facts like that.

I have never heard of anybody saying 25 lbs for the rear wiper, that's some hyperbole.

The removal of the rear wiper makes the hatch look more clean, I think that's the main reason why people take it off, but here's a bunch of my estimates of weight.

~35 - A/C
~15 - P/S
~30 - Spare Tire & Jack
~20 - Rear Interior
~25 - Rear Seat Support
~3 - Rear Wiper

= ~128 lbs.
