Default i need a 200+ HP setup...

i know it's been discussed before.... but i thought we'd start fresh again...also.. could i achieve this with spoon cams? (bc i have a good deal for 'em 850 brand new)

lastly.... bc i know header will become a crucial decision in this setup... anyone proven the new DC JDM header yet? I don't remember where but i remember someone posting graphs of it compared the the JDM mugen header and it was the same.... or something like that...

AEM CAI
JDM 4:1
Apexi N1 exhaust or test pipe 2.5 exhaust
Mild or wild cams
valvesprings and retainers - for the cams
camgears - to tune
SAFC - to tune more
NICE port and polish job

what are the spoon cams specs?
850, thats about the same as JUN's stage 3's

i don't know the specs exactly.... but i do know that they are very similar to Toda spec A's but better... and i thought the JUN #'s are more expensive? plus the spoons are easier to deal with regarding tuning

its like 450 each ...intake and exhaust.....around 850-900 area http://www.inlinefour.com

im not sure but thats the price last time i checked....
i dont' think gettin 200 is hard on a R motor....the thing is everyone wants 220+
i want to see 240hp and 150 lbs torque on an R motor without changing its displacment...which i find very hard to do! and expensive

if ur gonna pay that much for mild cams, that are like spec A's , u should go TODA and get Spec B's!

you think i should just go for the B's? Cuz i don't even have headers yet... and i'm kinda worried about the install and the labor for that... and i won't have enough for ECU (all i have is VAFC and intake).... the spoons will go right in without new valvetrain or ECU (although both would help)

type rizzy,

why just VAFC? that only tunes ur fuel maps. U can add ITC which does your ignition but then again, your not getting the most out of your setup. If i was you, i'd save up and get the Apexi Power FC. This allows you to tune fuel, ignition etc... at many points compared to the VAFC. Or u can get some other full management ecu's. $ talks.!

I would LOVE to see that one... . Although the DC JDM header might be the best "bang for the buck," I highly doubt that it will outperform any of the big JDM headers. If anyone has any dyno graphs proving otherwise, feel free to post them.

damn.... the thought of purging on somebody is really tempting... 55 shot nos...

well... how about i go with the spoon cams, headers, tuning... and a sneaky pete 30 shot nos system.... could i hit over 200 with that? how about without the 30 shot?

If i were you I would not mix NOS with a spoon set up (I think its asking for probs)!!!!!!, you will probably want to upgrade the valvetrain so you can redline just above 9 grand, what kinda $ are you willing to spend, I am going with a similar setup and almost there - spoon cams are on the way as I speak, still need to get JDM ITR pistons, and some new lightweight valves from AJ racing though, a JDM front clip would be nice too - good luck hope you got lotsa $$$$$$, you probably wanna buy a spare head and maybe intake mani(like i did) and get it ported out, if your teg is your only ride (more lotsa $$$$), unless you can take it off the road for a while. it can be tough getting to 200 whp without a worked head

i'm willing to spend somewhere between 1500-2000 to go 200+... tell me how the spoons work out for ya!! I plan to go with jdm itr pistons too, and will eventually upgrade valvetrain... port and polish.. etc..

but what about the darkside? i can get a mitsu turbo for like 200, downpipe for 200, BOV for 100, oil lines for 50, wastegate for 150, intercooler for like 250, basically put together my own kit for like 13-1500 and have money to spend on safegaurds.... that'll really put some power

2000 bucks won't do it,
cams are 900 alone
springs and retainers, 500
ecu 300
jdm itr header 450 sms or hitech 800-1000
free flow cat 350 or test pipe 50
2.5 custom exhaust 400-450
cam gears 300
mugen headgasket, 75
vafc 350
b&m fpr 65

that should get ya close to 200.
I estimate my numbers conservatively high. Don't forget to include installation labor if you're gonna pay someone to do it

Another 200-300 to make sure its all tuned in right.

If you can afford go with 11.5:1 compression pistons

That should do it.

hitech for $1000???? uhhh my hitech was not $1000!...JOHN?????!!!!... only kidding....the hitech is $1300 . Toda's header is $1200-1300. Spoon $950 at the stock mount locations..SMSP $890 for the top of the line ceramic coated mild steel adjustable header, and the Mugen $945.

you're looking at $3500 to get there.

well... if i go with the spoon cams...it will be as follows:
spoon cams - 850
skunk2 cam gears- 200
VAFC- 0 (i already have it)
sms bare header - 740
custom exhaust piping 2.5" - 80 (not mandrel bent however)
test pipe - 50

valvetrain is not needed unless i wanna go past 9k... and later on the jdm pistons to bump up compression, ti retainers... etc...

if i don't go with spoon:

toda b package = 1500 (valvetrain, cams, gears)

and that's it as that would be most of my money.... i COULD get a DC JDM header...
