Default Koni Yellow Install Problem - URGENT

Ok I will do my best to explain my situation . . .

I just purchased new Neuspeed Koni Yellow shocks to go with H&R Race springs. I am assembling the rear shocks at the moment. The shock has a welded/metal 'nubbin' ab out 3 inches from the top of the shock, which I assume the bump stop rests upon (according to diagram). So I place the bumpstop(cut) on top of the metal nubbin, then a metal washer. Then Koni wants me to place a metal cyclindrical tube about one inch long on top of the washer then another washer on top of that.

My first problem is with this metal tube piece the top hat of the shock is no where near fitting on to the threads (also the threads are covered with the metal tube). SO I removed the metal tube piece and tried to place the top hat of the shock (THe black rubber piece that holds the spring and shock tpogether and bolts into shock tower). When I tried to place the top hat on top of the shock without the metal tube piece the threads are two wide to fit throught the top hat . . . so I cannot assemble the shock.

So my question is WTF? Any ideas?

If I'm following you correctly you are having throuble getting the dust cover over the strut rod, part #9 in the diagram?
It has to be drilled out to 12mm (1/2" or so)

But reading back through your post, the 1" long metal sleeve #3 that rides between the rubber top hat bushings, comes with your KONI struts. It is larger in ID than the oem sleeve spacer. You have to use the one that comes with the Konis

All that is required is to drill out the oem dust boot (that you reuse), cut down the oem bumpstop (that you reuse), all other washers and spacers come with the Koni struts (oem can not be reused). It should work out fine, I have done this same install many times. Can you take a digi-pic of exactly what is causing the probelm?

If I remember correctly you are supposed push the cut bump stop over that metal nub on the cylinder rod until the top part of the bump stop is even the top of the metal nub which will then give you the room to use the metal sleeve...good luck!

yup that was the problem, I did not realize that the the strut hat/cap was two parts, so that problem is solved.

Now my question isdoes the bump stop sit on top of the metal nub, or at level with it?

The backs are in and feel great, but the back passenger's side is about 1 - 1.5 inches higher then the driver's side rear. I have H&R Race with the neuspeed koni yellows on the second lowest perch so I should have no wheel gap and maybe some tuckage, but the passenger side has at least 2 fingers wheel gap.

The bumpstops are evenly cut, all hardware is installed correctly. ANy ideas????

Recheck your spring perch, it may be upsidedown. That's way too much gap.

Make sure you drive the car for a short stint to let the suspension settle.

Mine was different at every corner when i put it back on the ground as well.
