I think for 19k it's a better deal then the 99-00 si. Haven't seen around my area though. I also think you should find a neon board and ask this question. Na but for real there are alot of post about those cars in the kills forum.

i think getting an opinion from someone who doesn't own the car but has some experience with it is always a good thing. i'm gonna leave this thread in the hopes that a good discussion follows.

I think that it was a good idea (cheap speed)... but it's a shame that it had to happen on a neon.

I have test drove one, and I dont like the car AT ALL! First off, my fat *** does not even fit in the seat (And I am not that big of a guy). Second, it feels as if I am going to rip the power train right off the POS frame. The motor pulls real strong, and puts out great power, but I will want to see about a years worth of drving on one, to see its reliability.

I think the front end looks sick It's funny, for Neon owners/afficionado's, the SRT-4 is their Type R.

I was at the supermarket last week and I parked near a yellow SRT-4. As I was walking out after buying groceries I noticed a riced-out 1st gen Neon pull up next to the SRT-4 and the owner got out and was studying it with a sense of awe.

Same exact thing I did back when I parked next to the first R I had seen.

I happen to like this car. I have an 89' hatch with a J-spec B16, and intake, headder, exhaust, MSD, magnacore wires, underdrive pulley(unorthodox). I raced one of these a couple weeks ago and he beat me by a car. Considering that my car is lighter and my mods, I think that they are pretty fast for 19000, and you get AC, and power steering.

when motortrend did their testing, it was 110 degrees outside. they loved the car and mentioned that the heat killed alot of the turbo's power. with some minor tuning that would be even more impressive. like they say "its just a neon"

I like the car. If I didn't have my crx and was looking for a sporty car I would buy one. It's a new car with a warranty and it's sporty

Please don't get me started. Chrysler products are for the most part unreliable and sometimes darn right dangerous to drive on the strret. Good deal for performance for the dollar but not a good car by far. See this thread:

so far so good i guess, its not terrible looking, (ive seen far worse crx's and civics rollin around thats for sure) its got power and some decent interior for the price tag i mean you cant really beat that part. ive heard terrible things about drivetrain but thats just it, "heard" no proof yet personally. i guess we'll have to wait and see how that goes. but since im in love with ef's and mine only cost me 1600, i would pour the rest of that 19 or 20 grand into it and i would be happier i think. i would hope so anyways??? what do you guys think

The SRT is byfar the best "bang for buck". The tranny was designed by the benz side, so no worries there, and the 900whp neon I saw in a magizine used the stock crank. The rods are forged, but the pistions are cast ( not like that means a while lot really, may 9 seconds buick GN guys still use cast pistions ), and it even has pistion oil squirter like the supra, GS-T, and stealth TT. I'll wait till there is 200 of them in every town, and then buy one for dirt cheap b/c even the SRT is going to suffer from dodges VERY poor resale value. I'm thinking $14K for a SRT with 8K miles on it...

PS: not to bash or anything, but there were 2 neons at the local track a few nights ago. One neon ran low 13's ( modded out course ) and the other was stock and ran 14.2, while in the mean time there was also an EVO8 there that had best time of 15.3 after running it ALL NIGHT and hammering the **** out of it !!!. I like the evo8's brakes ( and that's about it ), but 2 neons smacking my $32K evo up at the track, isn't my idea of "good" or "bang for buck"... No STi reports yet...

PS2: magizines also say that a stock GSX-R600 can run 10.8 in stock form, but I saw one run a best of 11.60 and the rest of his runs were in the 12's, so driver has a lot to do with it, but just don't believe everything you read in magizines.

you still only drive a civic.

I hate stupid replies like this. "It's only an integra" when referencing the ITR.

Seriously though, it seems like a good platform...even if it only spins one wheel.

Ive saw only one so far. It was black. From what Ive read in mags they are a good car for $19,000. It will smack the **** out of a new GT stang. It can hang with ls1 F bodies. It gets decent gas mileage. It has a turbo

Neon interior,Neon Body, Neon resale value If I was in the market for a new "fast daily driver" Id look at the SRT-4 for sure but I think Id go for a WRX. Just because the suburu has been out a lil longer and is proven reliable. But I give dodge respect for making maybe the most bad *** FWD sport compact
