not bad...but doesn't that seem kinda low for 12 psi? maybe you should bump the compression back up a little bit

My friend ran a stock b16 w/ 3mm headgasket.
Drag III Kit, 2.5" DP, 3" Exhaust
10psi - 287whp.
No other mods.

Your numbers seem kinda of low? What's the rest of the setup? Something might be making you loose some power besides the low compression.

nice setup, those 8.8:1 pistons aren't helping you at all. I'm gonna be running a very similar setup to yours on the xact same car. I personally was expecting around 250-275 at around 10psi @ 10:1 comp. I would think that you could put a couple of more lbs in since your running at such a low compression level.

Hopefully the experts here could give you better advice since I'm a newbie myself.

honestly i think its your compression giving you lag, shoulda have stay in the low 9's in compression you prolly be more happyand less turbo lag..

low compression pistons are made so you can run more boost. to make more power: Run more boost.

Check the turbo he is using, it's a t3/t4b. If that is the same turbo that is used in the single cam kits, the turbo does not flow as efficient as the e trim. I will be unfortunately running the same set-up in my b16, but running 9.5:1. I wouldn't expect much out of the engine with both of those factors alone.

Maybe a Precision turbo is in your future.

12 psi with those mods is a waste as you see from the results. I would be running more like 15-17 psi.

More boost bigger injectors! go with 550's and go with about 16psi

one more vote for more boost...

With the low comp pistons and non-stock rods you have in there, you
should run more boost. Let the boost make the power...

I run 18psi on 9:1... maxed out 550's

I suggest you get larger injectors: 650 or 720cc then turn it up until you run out
injector... The only downside is that you'll have to re-tune.

yeah, so you may have gone too low on compression...
call it 'old-school' thinking.

dont listen to the people telling you that your compression is too low to make any power, thats ridiculous.

the problem lies elsewhere.

check for any exhaust leaks, either between the turbo and manifold, the manifold and head or even at the wastegate. Also double check cam timing, maybe play with the cam gears, and then last but not least, check the tune. I know nothing about who tuned your car or even what fuel system you run, but that has a huge part to play.

good luck

FFgeoff is telling the truth. Your compression is fine. Funny to hear someone say you should have 'stayed low 9's'. Like they could tell a difference between 8.8 and what, 9.1?? Pretty silly how everyone jumps on the bandwagon to say 'yeah it's its that low compression'. Humans are a strange breed.

My thoughts

I think like someone already mentioned is you will benifit more from swapping turbo, to a t04e. Also i dont think it is all compression like people have mentioned, but i do think it plays a role on his #'s. You do admit the 8.8 suck, but like you said its too late and too much troublke to swap pistons, but how about maybe replacing headgasket and bumping up a few points and then swapping your turbo. This is probabaly the most cost effecient way to make some more power out of your current setup.

It has to be the compression thats causing the low numbers though. I'm running the same setup with the same t3/t4b and I made 240 at 8 psi with stock compression pistons.

I have to guess that it's the tuning. Those numbers are VERY low! I would be checking for extremely retarded ignition timing, possibly loose valve adjustments cuasing the valves to not open fully, check Intake Air Temps. Something is not right. I am interested to see what the problem ends up being, please keep us informed, I will keep checking this post. Thanks. Good Luck.

EDIT: I see you are running an FMU! Are you using this with your Hondata and 440's? If you are running the Hondata with the 440 cc injectors, REMOVE the FMU (and throw it in the TRASH for me! )

you'll be fine with that compression, Get a bigger turbo and more boost!!! theres plenty of people boosting more than that on stock blocks, might as well take advantage of forged pistons/rods and boost more, I would personally pick up a garrett t3/t04e 60 trim .63ar and turn the boost up to 16-18psi, with that low of compression you have to make the turbo do the work instead of the engine..goodluck
