Default hondata or power fc?

which would you choose for an all-motor application? they are both around the same price. i like the hondata because it seems more flexible and easier to use, and i like the idea of using the laptop to program it. i'm just not sure if any shops here would know how to program it. i know of one shop here in new york that can program the power fc though.

thanks

I've seen and tampered with both alitte....the FC is best for quick results, the hondadata is more bulky and takes longer to install. If the right person is at the helm, FC is a better choice in my opinion.

The one drawback to the FC is that you have to program it with the commander unit and you don't get the full programming potential, You can program it with a PC but you need the PC card and software, which is only available to certain Apexi Dealers
However If anyone with the Power FC wants the The PC Card and Software I can get a copy version of it

I think most people know I like the FC due to it's user freindliness and plug and play install. Hondata is also excellent though and I'd like to try one on a turbo Honda next time.

Ok, explain how you "copy" the PC card."

I am very surprised to see everyone saying the power fc. Doesn't the Hondata unit provide greater flexibility. I have seen many posts where people have said a power FC is goodl but you alos need a new ECU. If that is true shouldn't the Hondata be the obvious choice?

Really curious...

After reading their page I would say go with the Hondata. I would go with Stage 4 since it allows all the Power FC needs, but also allows constant tuning of timing and fuel maps.

Is it true about the power FC not hitting full potential because it doesn't change the timing maps?

Also is Hondata a OBD1 based ECU. I would want and ECU that gets rid of the second O2 sensor. If that s the case I would definitely say Hondata since it takes care of teh reprogrammed ecu and power FC in one.

The FC does not use any "OBDII" sensors.....

The FC does not have need for the second O2 sensor that is when you can run a test pipe or straight pipe as some call it.

Actually its a company I deal with that can get them, It's not hard to copy a PC Card let alone make a copy of a PC program.

The FC can tune all timing and fuel mpas as well as VTEC, idle, rev limiter (up to 10,000) and just about any other feature the stock ECU controls.

Hard to say. The FC out of the box is more user friendly. Why? It has a decent base program. Once the Hondata is out and basic programs are out for use by modified cars, it will be a close call.

I have tried 3 companys tune roms with my set up that I have now and I finally broke down and bought the POWER FC.. I was thinking about this for a long time and looking at the pro's and con's of Hondata...It just seems if you don't know what you are doing with the hondata you can Jack some **** up and ...All of the bug's haven't been Iron'd out Just yet from some of the posts I have read on other Boards...? So if you are going to run boost I would have to say Hondata.....But then again the FC has the option for boost control.....Allmotor POWER FC all the way.. But then again that's just my 2 yen..

I'm surprised that no one mentioned Motec. Isn't this company the best when it comes to ECU Tuning??

Motec is excellent but number one a MUCH more involved install and also a MUCH more expensive option. Their systems can run over $3000.

Even for all motor, I find a couple of the Hondata features hard to pass on:

Stage 4 http://www.hondata.com/stage4.html

Speed limiter removed.
Adjustable rev limiter.
VTEC controller
Shift light
Launch control
Full throttle shift
HondaLogger (datalogging software)
ROM Editor (tuning software)

I haven't heard of problems with "bugs" that were not "install" related...
