The blue looks pretty sharp to me, you planing on going with a blue theme, or just the intake? Should get some blue plug wires or powder coated valve cover, or some blue sway bars or something, that'd be sweet.

Any noticible powerincrease from the ram air?

He might have done this with a heat-resistant paint. Maybe he only color available was blue.

I'LL BE DAMNED SOMEONE ASKED ABOUT THE RAM AIR (KINDA THE POINT OF THE POST, NOT THE COLOR OF MY INTAKE). lol yes VERY noticeable gain, especially at higher speed. yea i think i am going to go with a blue theme, seems to look better with black than red.

Did you bore the opening on the bottom of the airbox? Seems awfully small to me to be effective for significant gains.

Not to mention the cut out in the turn signal is asking for ungodly turbulent air.

Look into finding a velocity stack and have it sit outside the turn signal.

I'd like to differ.

This is actually very close to the stagnation point on the front of Tegs (Spot of highest pressure where air has to "decide" wether to go over or under the vehicles countour. Good spot for a CAI because the pressure here is higher than where the headlights are, and will promote good induction.

Sliminem: Did you take a dremmel to the inside of the Intake tube that extends from the bottom of the air box? There are a number of restrictions built in to the molding in there (molding flaws and left-overs), and even at the mouth of the airbox. Removing these and smoothing the interior will help decrease pressure loss through your intake.

It's good you didn't seal the intake tube to the turn signal, the flow volume throught the turn signal will be insufficient to feed the engine without complimentary airflow.

Nice job.

It is still a rough square cut opening, the air around the turn signal may be stagnent, but once it goes through its going to become turbulent.

Air is going to be forced to make sudden turns instead of smooth ones, and this causes turbulence. Again, you want a velocity stack.

Drawing diagram of the differences, will post when I finish.

Alright, crappy crappy diagram... but you can get the idea..

The gradual entrance of the velocity stack directs air into the pipe with out creating turbulence.

Where the square cuts of the turn signal create turbulence.

Sorry, I might have misunderstood. The "lips" still present at the front and rear of the turn signal should be minimized to reduce vortexes entering the intake mouth.

That was a good tip StyleTEG.

Also a strake added a tthe front left of the entrance to the turn signal will encourage airflow to enter the signal instead of going around the side of teh vehicle.

Some follow ups modifications to maximize the efficiency of what you have.
1) Trim the lips that protrude at the entrance of the turn signal.
This will minimize vortexes sent into the intake mouth, AND increase the available flow rate through the turn signal.

2) Add a vertical strake to the left edge of the turn signal. (Maybe use a scrap of black ABS plastic or Clear plexiglass.
This will increase pressure at the mouth of the turn signal.

3) Open (cut) the rear of the turn signal such that it's area is >= the area of the intake mouth and the turn signal entrance area.
This will minimize pressure drop prior to the intake mouth.

4) *FORGOT* Take a dremmel to the inside of the lower intake arm, to remove the excess plasic left after the molding process. There is a lot of plastic in there that causes vortexes and a pressure drop through this section of the intake.
This will improve eficiency throughout your system.

again, good job.

i have this same setup, and i also have an extra turn signal lying around!

did you use a dremel for this??
it kinda looks like you busted them out...lol
any tips, or anything else i should know??

Thanks!!
