drivers side door stuck shut, sounds familiar. what now?

drivers side door stuck shut, sounds familiar. what now?
I've opened an area in the door pillar and can see the lock but now what. the door is locked so...cant pull the lever down. Seems to be somewhat of a common problem. Is there a recall.....
