wwww.redpepperracing.com is a start.....but you do need to know the model as the si type is easier to mod, even with swaps, etc.

1st Gen CRX Si=rear wiper, sunroof.
Missing either of the above on an 86 CRX=DX or Hf

d16a1 is a popular swap, or the d16a1 head will go on the stock block, lowering the compression, good for turbos. If it is a Dx a popular modification is weber side drafts, add N2O for a little boost. FI swaps suck. The Hf is bad, solid front rotors and real light suspension. A lot of work required for any swap.

Yeah, I agree. Need a VSS signal for VTEC. PITA
Torsion bar suspension hard to mod.
I don't think the 1G teg engine bolts in.
It requires fabrication, check http://www.hasport.com
ZC is likely the only option, IF the CRX is an Si.
If not, webers are an option.
BUT it is super light and super nimble.

when i saw the engine for different 1st gen crx, the spark plugs were at where the headers should have been instead of the top of the head of the engine like other engines. And i didnt get to look at the exhaust manifold cause i couldnt find one, but any thoughts on 1st gen crx engines?

1 - really? So you don't like to adjust ride height by turning a single 17mm nut? parts are out there if you are willing to look.
2 - bolts right in with teg mounts. no fabrication required.
3 - ZC is the same as 1G teg engine, in terms of swappability into a 1G CRX. And you can get carbed ZC's, so you aren't tied to the SI for a ZC.

Please know what you are talking about before posting.

Hey man, cut me some slack, I LOVED my 1G CRX, but I haven't owned a 1G CRX in something like 16 years. I stand CORRECTED. Do you feel better NOW.
ALL of your FINER points are most likely TRUE.
But you were MISSING my finer points.
#1 Torsion Bar is NOT as sophisticated, AS Double wishbone coilover.
and NOT AS MODABLE. Go look it UP.
#2 1G teg engine info is from http://www.hasport.com send your criticism & complaints and corrections to them, if you would really like to help 1Gener"s.
THERE ARE 2 different 1G teg engines and they are not interchangeable
with EDM or JDM ZC's. But hey you knew that already, Right EXPERT!!!!
#3 Yeah Carbed ZC's might EXIST, But how many have you seen in your LIFE?.
I was talking general practicality of things, 1st GEN expert.
Not "what's is a mere possibility"
Just remember this Swap-Master: You can put a jet aircraft engine in a
submarine IF you have enough time, money and motivation.
Have a nice day

4crx4me, you are an idiot. You have absolutely no clue. Go away and discuss your 2G's, although I'm sure your head is so far up your ***, you can't find your car. If you are going to discuss a topic...KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DISCUSSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now go away.
Don't sweat it rpr, some ppeople are just ignorant.

And how is anything I said in any way ignorant by your definition of the
word. Ignorant, implies not "well read".

All I was trying to do was point out some mistakes in what you posted. Granted, the 'know what you are posting about comment' was unnecessary, but I had just finished reading another topic about brakes locking up, and every post in there was so off base I couldn't believe it. Regardless, you came back with a bunch of stuff that was pretty harsh, and I had no wish to continue to push the issue.

Well, along with rpr, I am the co-founder of http://www.redpepperracing.com which is the best 1G "resource" on the net. I have helped do a d15 carb to d16 FI swap, I own an 87 CRX Si, an 85 Civic 1300 and I race rpr's 87 Civic 1500. I have seen a couple of carbed ZC's and I have also seen the ZC and the D16 in a CRX, and they bolt right in with no fab required. Now, like I said, go away. I'm sure there is a 2G owner just waiting for your mis-information.

rpr and Masta,
Would a blacktop dohc ZC from a 2nd gen JDM Crx Si drop right into a 1st gen Crx Si?
Are there any fabrications or aftermarket mounts needed?

RPR, Masta and 4crx4me,

All of you can can fight about this all you want (it's kind of entertaining in a werid way), but you all have to remember this one thing -
