Default OT: Torque

Off topic question here. What creates torque exactly? I always assumed that basically torque is dependent mostly on the force from the combustion in the cylinder. Thus explaining why bigger engines produce more torque. Is this idea correct or is there more to it?

Thanks

Go to the torque section of the article.

Heh, I probably should have checked there first. It partly answered my question. I mean gearing ratios aside and such, would then saying that an engine with more displacement will make more torque due to a larger "explosion" in the cylinders, thus more force on the cylinders and thus creating torque?
