EF vs. EG civic hatch.
Hello everyone. My first post here. I did a search but could not really find an answer to my question. For financial reason, I am selling my base RSX and will be geating a cheap beater car. I used to have an EF DX hatch 9 years ago, but back then I wasn't into cars the way I am now. I'm not really into the import scene, but like everyone, I like a car that handles well and has nice pep to it.
Now I am considering both of these cars, because I can find either one for 2 grand or less. Now why am I considering the EF when I could get a 92-93 EG for the same price? Well, from what I've heard, the EG is soft and not as fun to drive as the EF was. Is that true? While I understand that it's the EG forum, I hope that this forum's reputation for unbiased opinion comes through and I get some objective answers.
My plans for this car will be to use to to get to work every day and maybe do a B16a swap in a couple of years when my financial situation improves.
Ps. A/C is probably a must. I can live with manual windows and doorlocks, I can't without A/C. Thanks in advance.

then get a 92-95 civic with A/C. so much easier to have a hybrid 92-95 civic with a/c instead of a 88-91/

i dont know what everyone else thinks, but i drive an EG hatch and i think its pretty fun to drive. my car before this was a 4dr 1986 buick century so its definatly a lot more fun to drive then the buick. i got a friend with a 91 DX hatch for sale with like 75k on it. its got AC and the non powered windows and locks. i dont know where abouts you live but he's got one, havent driven it but i'm sure its not bad to drive either.

92-95 hatches are just all around better cars....no questions asked....they have a more stable suspension setup, they are compatible with most other hybrid parts, and they just look so much better......IMO, get a 92-95, swap the engine, keep your a/c.....then you'll be quick AND comfortable....and look good too

Ohh yea, you`ll get some opinionated answers alright
The older year car you get, the less there is parts available, or atleast that`s the theory. A clean EF is going to be difficult to come by, considering its age, the car has a better chance to be beat to **** by a number of previous owners, therefore compromising its suspension trueness.
The EG is not soft, its original chassis can be improved upon, but motors and parts are abundant, so the strong aftermarket support is attractive. EG is the way to go, hands down, its a better looking(IMO) car all around, it just seems newer.
Can you tell I drive an EH-2

get an 92-95 si hatch...most of the creature comforts you want, and a nice motor to turbo...then you'll make more power than a swap and still be running the same motor that your car came with.
