Ignition switch question, w/pic! (EF)
The car cranks on the second key position, so I guess the ignition switch is fouled up. I go to remove the ignition switch, and one of the wires is cut, and then relocated to another part of the harness. There is also a plug down there that is unplugged. The wire looks to be cut where it plugs into the fuse panel and the spliced into another wire farther down the harness past the fuse panel. Is this wiring done to be able to start the car without pushing down the clutch pedal? Why do you think someone would wire it this way. Here is a pic:

It looks to me as if he had something hooked up between there, maybe an amp, or anything else that he wanted to get power to when your turned the key, and he unhooked it before you bought the car and just twisted them back together.

not sure if this will help u any but the black wire with a white strip is the one that sends the starter signal, it looks like its spliced into that? if worse comes to worse goto a junkyard and pull that whole harrness
haha
looks like my old crx,
i had to do that,
basicly the main relay went out, i got a new main relay and it didnt solve the problem, it was probably an issue with my alarm system (viper 300).
is that a white crx hf?

The car is a '90 civic dx hatch. I dont think the wires were twisted together at the last minute, because it has one of those yellow crimpie cylinders on it. Although I am pretty sure the car had an amp, but I think he got the power for that from another part of the harness which I ripped out, cause it was useless. I was going to go to the junk yard and pull the ignition switch, but I do not see any sensor located on the clutch pedel. Is there a sensor somewhere there that has to be hooked up? For the car to start with the clutch in?
My car trys to crank on the second key position, and not the third as well.
