Default brand of oil?

I bought a used Accord with an extended warranty. When I had my oil changed at the Honda dealer I bought it from, I asked if they were using Honda oil. I was told no, but the oil they use meets Honda specs. They did charge for a Honda filter so I guess that was used - I will check to make sure.
Doesn't Honda of America insist that they use what they recommend in the owners mnual?

they use whatever the parts department can get the cheapest. i think many honda dealers use valvoline though unless you ask for honda oil specifically or if your car requires 5w-20 honda oil.

My dealership uses Castrol GTX....so I have been using the same stuff when I change my own oil.
