b20 91 hb si
Im gunna be doing a b20/vtec swap in my hatch. Ive been readin alot about it i start next sunday. my question is what vtec head to use and ecu. im usun and ls tranny. but the head does it have to be obd0 such as a sir head or can i use any and get the wire harness convertor. like say if i was to use a ITR head id have to get a conversion correct? what ecu would i use for the b16 had and then for the ITR head. oh and if i go with the b16 head which cams would be better CTR or ITR. thanks yall hope fully i can get this resolve before sunday...
well i do not belive that you will even start this project on Sunday.
You said you have been doing a lot of reading... do more reading!
your car is OBD-0. You can stay with that or convert over to OBD1
the choice is up to you.
The head does not matter when choosing what OBD to run. What matters is the injectors, harness and distributor. So you can use a 2000 ITR, 99 si head, 94 gsr head or anything B-seires vtec head. do you understand ?
the ecu is going to have to be base on if you want to stay OBD-0 or convert over to OBD-1. If you choose to stay OBD-0 get the PR3 ecu from the 1st gen b16. if you go with OBD-1 then you have more options like chipped p28, GSR, B16, ITR ecu.
CTR cams will make more power over ITR cams, but 2000-2001 ITR cams are the same spec as CTR cams though.

Got any links to where i can purchase a conversion harness to obd1 or if its just a matter of rewiring know of where some instructions i can get um at. I think i understand lol. thanks.
oh im not runnin vtec for about a week i just need to put the motor in there so i can get the body work done first.

Found some good info on odb0-odb1 really informative lemme know what you think if this sounds all good then thats the rout im gunna go ill. What harness should i use the b20 harness or or a b16 harness

for the conversion harness contact a fellow Honda-tech memeber her by the names of (Blown90hatcH) just IM him or do search in the CREATOR box and you'll see what he offers, I think like 50+ people here have bought from him.
well if your only going to run B20 OBD-1 right now then just get the correct injectors and distributor and you should be set. Also get a LS manifold too.

No, you need injectors and distributor according to what OBD you will be running. So if you are gonna run the b20 alone for a while and keep your OBD0 ecu than you need OBD0 distributor and injectors. You should get the b20 motor and use an OBD0 LS manifold/injectors/distributor.

Well a B16a intake manifold will not bolt on to you B20 head. (since your going just B20 for now). you will have to get a LS intake manifold or if you want..get the skunk2 intake manifold. So what OBD are you choosing 0 or 1? we need to know this so that we can help you out.

I thought the CTR cams were 3 degrees more duration then the ITR, It's a mute difference and I don't think that the CTR cams are worth the money that people sell them for but I did not think that they were the same spec.

i guess im gunna go obd1 seems easier to get ****. gimme a list of what i need.
Ls ob1 injectors
" " distributor
" " intake mani
" " ecu
obd0-obd1 harness
anything else....

depsite being assembled wrong, it pulled hard. did a 13.0 here in vegas with it with a lot of room for improvement. but at the same time i have a stock itr motor was able to do a 13.3 with the same chassis, ef9, and full interior this time

well i know that the 96-98 itr cams have different specs, but I THINK the 99-2001 itr cams have the same intake cam spec as the CTR now. The exhust cams has always been the same on both. someone correct me if I'm wrong.. I'm too lazy to do search right now

yup hes right. Also think about getting a FPR and bump it up 1-2psi for more fuel since the B20 is bigger than the 81mm LS motors to just compensate for more fuel through the entire powerband.

fuel pressure regulator!
most PR4 (obd1 LS ecu) run at a set fuel pressure of 38psi.
Because your putting a B20 in with 0.2 more liters it will need more fuel to run more efficently. Set the FPR at about 40-42psi and your good to go.
You don't need the FPR for the motor to run. It will run fine at 38psi, your motor will just run leaner, which is not good in the long run.
