Default Good cam upgrade for the type-R?

What would be a good cam upgrade for the type-R? This is mostly for street performance. I don't need the absolute best, just a good upgrade. I do not have the need for expensive jun cams. Has there been a review of the different cams? Also, which cams could be used with the stock type-R valve springs?

You could go Toda A's, or you could pick up a set of Crane cams. The Toda has a nice price tag. but either one will retain the stock ITR valve springs and will give you good preformance.

Jun stage 2 only intake cam.... That`s half the price for performance..
I`m sure that if you spend some time for a search, you`ll be satisfied with the info you`ll find.

Imho a cam upgrade ist crap. To much money for just a few hp... Go turbo or charger if you like to make serious gains...

i agree, in the long run it will be almost as much money n/a and more money if you to get n/a first and switch turbo as i did.. it will be faster.. and its so easy to get hp..

if not, then keep it stock, its so little difference.. really.. unless you're going to make the most of n/a setup..

I agree. With some tuning, there's a lot of power to be made for half the price of Toda A's or Skunk 2 Stage I cams. Mad midrange. I have a dyno that another board member forwarded on to me. Impressive indeed.

Most inexexpensive upgrade would be CTR cams at 500 a pair NEW you can't beat the bang for the buck.

I chose to go with Spoon cams, but these did require a Valve Spring upgrade so might not be your alley. Most mild cams can be run on the Stock setup but you have to note where the cams are supposed to give the best advantage.

well, why dont u post what kinda setup you have.

if you want more power, cams might not be the best for you in every situation.

unless this guy has an pre-98 itr cam, the ctr cam=itr cam
