What size tire on 15's to keep the same gear ratio?
I have some 95 gsr rims to put on my crx si , what size tire should I put on them to keep the same gear ratio and to keep my speedo the same. 195 50 15 or 205 50 15
195/50/15 is the correct spec, if you want 205's you would have to get 45's for it, but i dont think that really any tire manufacture makes 205/45/15, i have looked before and couldnt find that size, but using 205/50/15 really wont make that big of a difference on the speedo.
Actually 195/50/15 and 205/50/15 are both off by the same amount from the overall diameter. A 185/60/14 is 22.8". The 195 is 22.6" and the 205 is 23". So they are both off by .2" just one is larger and one is smaller.
hmmm, sounds like we've got some folks who know their stuff as far as tire/rim sizes go, so let me ask this one....
going from stock 185/60/14 to 205/45/16.... how much difference in speedo readings? what's the total diameter difference on these ones?
TIA
Eric

According to http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html:
a 205/45/16 would be 2.3% bigger than the 185/60/14.
a 205/45/16 would be 2.3% bigger than the 185/60/14.
