integra preping
Does anybody have pictures of prepping their integra for a paintjob? I would like to know what kind of processes and materials u need to go though. Any previous threads, links, and web pages would be very helpful
depends on the damage, at the very least you need to scuff the paint so the new paint will adhere...honestly though...if you don't know what you're doing, leave it to those that do

we are attempting to paint my friends integra right now. . . so far this is what we've done.
-removed the lights, font bumper, hood, wheels, etc.
- wet sand the entire car with 400 grit sandpaper
- Mask off everything thats not going to be painted. we are doing all the jams and everything, this is the most time consuming part so far.
- used metal body filler to fill in dents as well as shave the front and back
emblem and the ACURA badge in the rear. (we also filled in the "in" and "gra" where INTEGRA is embeded in the back rear bumper, so it reads "TEG") make sure after you put on the filer is sanded very smooth(we used 200 grit sandpaper then 400 if needed, but use the 200 very lightly) or you'll feel and see ripples, and it wont be
- spray the car with "filler" its a thicker stuff you spray on and it adds a nice thick layer so you can't see where anything was filled, and to provide s smooth surface once again.
- Car was sprayed with two coats of primer, including bumper and hood.. ( one more coat coming soon)
in between all of these steps the car was washed with soap and water with a soft sponge because it needs to stay dust free. wich is hard with the sanding and spraying and such.
other than that, id get some masks so you dont breath in all the ****, youll get high and a sore throat, and make sure you have an area thats well ventilated and closed off to where your surrounding things dont get overspray, we hung 9x12 ft drapes aroudnt eh entrie garage ceiling except for the entrance which was lined with fans pointing out to take the fumes out. The fans and fumes is onyl is your spraying anything. def. not needed if your just wet snading and using the metal filler. i think thats about all i can remember right now. dont rush it
good luck
