My car started to stutter a couple of days go. Now it is getting really bad. It did it about for months ago and I found that it was a starter ground so I tightened that and it solved the problem. Now it is doing the exact same thing. And I have no idea what it could be. I'm pretty sure it is electrical because when it happens the speedometor and the tach start to jump around like crazy. I haven't really checked anything except for the motor grounds, starter ground, and alternator ground, and those are all fine. The only thing that i've done different is change out the plugs but that was like 2 weeks ago and this problem just started a couple of days ago. What else should I check? Plugs, dist. cap, rotor? It is getting on my nerves. I have a 98 civic dx with a boosted b18b. Everything is pretty much stock. Stock ignition and all of that. Anyone have any ideas?
Sounds like your Ignitor is about to crap . Thats why your tach is acting cracked out. hey are a pretty expensive part new from the dealer . Might wanna try a junk yard . But it sounds like more than one problem with your speedo acting up.

I wonder if that could be it? My car has been idling funny for the past month. Like it will idle between 700-1200rpms. Like it will just fluctuate.

I think it had something to do with the starter. One of the bolts that holds it fell out. So i went and got a bolt tightened it all up and stuttering stopped. Hopefully it won't come back
