I couldn't use it on my Skunk2 IM. I couldn't use the fast idle thermo valve on ITR type R throttle body either. I don't drive it much when the weather gets below 50 degrees. It is terribly cold blooded without the fast idle thermo.

I thought the dashpot and fast idle valve were the same thing? Or is Dashpot on the older cars and FIV on the newer ones?

Its only purpose is to make the car more drivable. It keeps the throttle from
closing all the way under extreme vacuum. For example, if you rev it to 7k and
take your foot off the gas.
Essentially what it does, is reduce the compression braking drastically.

Most importantly it keeps the car from stalling out everytime you put the car in neutral before the car is warmed up. My car used to die at every stop light and stop sign I didn't run before it was warmed up when my dashpot was broken. That was really damn annoying.

i have a b18a1 and when i got it, both the air boost valve and dashpot were busted so i removed both of them and plugged the hole in teh intake for the air boost valve. runs fine.

mine had 2.. funky dashpot things.. one was for the idle.. like that one guy said.. about the high rev, then let off.. or for idle.. and the other was for the AC.. like a high idle.. but come on.. who usually puts AC back on a B16.. my racer didnt. lol
