whats wrong with my tail lights. the car is off and the lights are on. i disconnected the battery, and of course everything is off. when i reconnect, the light switch is on the off position but the tail lights stay on. y is this............

 

does your horn work?

 

Is it the tail lights or the brake lights, if its the brake lights it might be your brake light switch is stuck since you can turn them on by applying the brakes even if your car is off. Cheap part if thats the problem.

 

look under at the brake pedal where the switch hits and make sure the stop button is there. very common for them to break off after a few years.

 

yo, thanks for your help guys....i finally found the problem. there s is a rubber (triagunlar) piece that goes on the brake pedal which makes contact with the switch when the pedal is released. the rubber piece broke and it wasnt making any contact.....i found the piece at the dealer for $4.........gasp!
