ZC motor hitting the hood ??
I have heard from a number of people that the DOHC ZC motor will hit my hood when installed.
Has snyone else had this problem and if so, how do you get around it?

The plastic timming belt cover hits. Either simply remove it or buy a ZC hood. Or shim the rear hood mounts up. Obviously the ZC hood is the best solution. Removing the cover is what I would reccomend. Shimming the hood looks ghetto.

If it does its only by a small amount, and its really only the cam gear cover. Or you could be like me and get a ZC hood a year and a half before you got an actual ZC engine.
I heard you can put washers on the mount to shim it a bit.

Heres your options..
1. ZC hood
2. Raise the hood with washers
3. Cut out some of the support bracket in the hood
4. Take off timing belt cover
Mine doesnt hit the hood at all without doing any of those....my hood hits my cruise control unit =P

im surprised nobody said shim the driver side motor mount down with a few washers...i just took off the cam gear cover myself but, some people have suggested i shim the motor mount down with a few washers...meh

Personally I would try every other method other than shimming the mount, I just dont set well knowing the engine is at a slightly off angle. Yes its just an inch or 2 but thats just me...

My h22 valve cover bareley hits the stock hood too, I really dont like the look of the Zc hood..sorry, so I found a hood from Fiber Images...SiR style to fit usdm hoodline...has a raise in the center..Cowl... and has low profile skeletonizing in the underside to give about 1 1/2"-2" of extra space...and still look cool.

I did it on my car. It works pretty well and you can't even tell that the engine has been shimmed. And you can use the top timing belt cover.
