paintjobs
im planning to paint my 95 gsr electron blue pearl or viper gts blue. how much do you think i will have to spend for a decent paintjob and a good paintjob? would it be cheaper if i take it to the dealer and paint it a stock color such as super sonic blue pearl? help me out on this and please post some pics if u have gotten a well done paintjob..i wanna see!!
electron blue pearl...just asking for the attention of thieves. when you get your paint job, make sure its the exact color code, paint the doorjams so it doesnt look funny. if you already have a nice paint job, i woudln't paint over OEM paint jobs.
Depending on conditions like: number and magnitude of dents/dings. How much prep work you will be doin yourself (if any). Expect a large chunk of change to properly repaint your car. It is a very time consuming process. But I estimate a cost of anywhere between 1000-3000. Depending on those condtions.
My advice: talk to some body shop freaks and see how they do prep work so you can do your own. Prep work like filling in dents and dings, sanding the surface down, so when you take it to a paint shop all they have to do is shoot the primer, paint, clear coat and let it bake in the "sunroom." You could probably chop your cost to a fraction if you do your own prep.

Just repainted a 4x4 Tacoma and am starting work on my 3dr 97 Integra, just to let you know, prep work is where it's going to cost you and it's something you just can't pick up overnight. Properly block sanding a car by hand (DAs warp the hell out of the thin metal on our cars) and working the dents with both puddy and tools is where you will get the quality paint job. A nice paint job with a base/clearcoat combination will cost you at least 2k . . . you can cut corners or pay somebody less, but it's going to show. If you are serious about doing it, do it right and spend the cash . . . I'm sure there's a good number of folks on this board that can offer advice to point you in the right direction, but remember, a bad paint job can end up costing you more than a good one can.
Just like sibanez said, it's all in the prep work. I had one of my buddies that works at a body shop help me prep this integra. Then we took it and slapped on an inexpensive paint job($280) but it's not too bad for the price I paid.
It would not be any cheaper to go to the dealer and paint it that a stock color but you can check with the dealer on cost definitly, but shop around you can probably find a better shop than the dealer though, also some times dealers don't do the best work, but they are usually ok. I would look for and indepent shop. The best thing to do is take a look at the other cars that have been worked on at the shops you visit. look for paint lines in the door jams and check the paint in the shade and catch the light and look down the panels and look for ripples and imperfections like tiny dimples (fish eyes) there will may, but not many on a good paint job.Good luck
